View Full Version : 302, 351 carb'd swap into '94 sn95 v6 Dimetera 05-10-2008, 08:09 PM anyone done this before? or kno what is required other than a 302 carb'd engine, ignition and fuel pump? will the v6 5speed bolt up? anyone? NeoTokyo 05-11-2008, 02:46 AM The stock T5 will get trashed behind those engines. You will be best off getting a TKO transmission. I think the K-Member is the same but I am not 100%. Only way to be sure is to test fit it or call up QA1 or Maximum Motorsports and ask them, or ask the question here. You should also change your suspension for the added weight. You can actually get an engine managment system and have a nice fuel injected swap. Just your choice though. The driveshaft also isnt speed rated like the Cobra driveshafts are and the differential wont hold up either. Remember too that the fuel pressure on the stock mustang is 38psi or so and the carb only needs 6-8psi if I remember correctly. So you will need a fuel pressure regulator. Dimetera 05-11-2008, 03:34 AM will the 3.8 bellhousing fit up against the 302? Jasperstang308 05-11-2008, 03:42 AM in all honesty the 5.0 swap would be more feasible and budget friendly Dimetera 05-11-2008, 03:58 AM well i've heard so many things i just want to swap my engine for now. need more power 3.8 single port isn't cutting it i feel left behind with this thing. NeoTokyo 05-11-2008, 04:21 AM The transmission will bolt up but the V6 has a longer input shaft and wont mount correctly. I think its 5/16 or something. I cant remember exactly. I know you can add a GT/Cobra T5 to the V6 with the sacrafice of a shorter pilot bearing life but you cant go the other way around. mysteed 05-11-2008, 11:08 PM FYI it'll bolt right into your k-member. Dimetera 05-12-2008, 01:43 AM ok. This is what I've learned so far. 1. K-Member is fine 302 will bolt into it as long as i have the 302 engine mounts. 2. v6 drivetrain will be fine as long as im not beating on it. Need to keep the v6 bellhousing to avoid the shifter from having lineup issues on the transmission tunnel. anyone else know anything? |
