The other day I got my track certification at Reno-Fernley Raceway and got to take my '06 Roush Stage 1 around a real track for the first time... and I fell in love and now I want a faster/better stang.
I was first planning on doing my suspension, I would love to hear if anyone has any advice on this. I have been researching alot but would like some true opinions.
I allready have fairly good rubber on my Roush 17'' wheels, so that is not a huge concern yet. Brakes are a different story though. They were smoking a few times on the track.
Also if anyone has anything else to add and help my Mustang corner better that would be awesome.
hows the track. i left fallon in 2003 so the track wasnt there yet.
does the stage 1 have the roush suspension mods? if not ive heard the stage 3 handles really well. i would go with that suspension to stay roush and then add a larger diameter rear sway bar. and brakes of course.

Brakes: Replace fluid with a racing fluid such as ATE Super Blue, Motul, etc. Replace pads with a track oriented pad like Hawk HP+. I run HP+ in rear, HT10 in front. Might also replace lines with stainless lines. I have the Goodrich, come with all the hardware, fit perfectly. That should do ya. If you were still to have fade issues, cooling ducts would be in order.
Suspension: big subject and lots of opinions. In general - lowering springs, Tokico D-Specs or Koni Sports, adj PHB and brace, HD UCA.
Other: track oriented tires and light weight rims, race alignment (-2 camber, 1/16" toe out)

if you're serious, start removing all the extra weight.
Radio and speakers, windshield washing equipment, wipers, trunk release handle and the plastic cover, trunk carpet, rear seat and belts, etc. The list goes on and on...
First of the track at Fernley is really good, they have really big plans for it. Check it out here if you are interested: http://www.reno-fernleyraceway.com
It is still my daily driver, so I am not going to be completely gutting it yet. I will try to make it lighter though.
