My wife and I stopped at a dealer today and test drove a 2006 Red GT with manual, interior upgrade package, leather seats with side airbags and 4,000 miles. I didn't see if it had the shaker 500 or not. My wife drove it first and scared the hell out of me when she took it thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears on a small 2 lane road. She said it felt almost as quick as her 2000 Corvette 6 speed convertible. Then I drove it and it did feel pretty quick. It was priced at $20,900. The dealer said I could have it for $7,000 and my 2006 V6 auto Tungsten Grey coupe with Pony Package, Interior Upgrade package, leather GT take off seats and 14,000 miles. Does that sound like a fair price? I probably won't buy it but it but I was just wondering if it sounded like a good deal.

How much if anything do you owe on your car? If you are not upside down, which I am guessing you are not, then I would take the GT. If you are worried about gas mileage, the V6 only gets about 1-3 MPG more.

Save yourself $3k+ I have given that serious consideration but I am not mechically inclined so I would spend another $800 or so to have it installed and then another $1000 for a GT take-off rear end with 411 gears and LSD and then $500 for an aluminum driveshaft and installation for both. By then I would probably be over the $7,000 in the trade.

get the GT with that you have such more potential for the future cause its already a 13 stock i think if not 14 flat if speed is one of your motivations

I test drove a manual GT yesterday too. I liked it, much more balls way up in the rpms, around town, it felt pretty much the same as the V6. Just curious, do you have any performance mods on your six? I do, and it really lets the six breath. No, it's not a GT, but it really closes the gap in the "seat of the pants dyno" department. The GT does have potential for greater gains with similar mods. I would like to try a GT with an intake and tune in it.

Great deal. I traded my o6 v6 for a manual 05 GT. Love it. I'm not mechanically inclined so a trade to a GT made more sense to me. Mileage is about the same. Around town GT feels same as V6. Past 3k RPM there's no comparison.

weve got a 06 gt stick and a 07 v6 auto- the 6 has reall good power, but IMHO the sound alone makes the GT a lot more fun to drive- to me the 6(maybe the tranny) has quite a bit of engine whirring type noise...the gt has a lot of tranny backlash type racket, but the exhaust hides it pretty nicely :) either way theyre fun cars- but I'm addicted to the sound of a V8...

It just has the tunes that come with the tuner. Does a custom tune really make a lot of difference? I was thinking of getting 87 Torque, 89 Torque and 93 Torque tunes from somewhere like B*A*M*A.

yes, there is a difference. although not a dramatic difference from a generic perf tune, its enough to make you satisfied. they are only $50 from vmp and bama.

If it's OTD then yes, do it. If not, add another 2K+ for everything else and it would NOT be worth it.
