View Full Version : Diablo Predator & Bamachips
2007CalSpec 05-10-2008, 03:37 PM Can someone tell me what tunes already come with the Predator from Bamachips?
Are these the ones?
Stock Vehicle Tune
Performance Tune for 93 octane
Performance Tune for 91 octane
Performance Tune for 87 octane
I need to know since I can pick 3 custom tunes from Doug and I don't want to pick "87 Performance" in the drop down menu on his site if the tuner already comes with it. Are the "Stock Vehicle Tunes" the ones that already come with the tuner? I'm just a bit confused why there's an option for "87 Performance"in the drop down menufor custom tunes if it already comes with it.
brad281 05-10-2008, 03:58 PM If your buying a new combo you can pick the three tunes. Perf, torque, and race. I'd pick a race tune for the highest octane available in your area. A 93 torque tune, 93 race, and a 89 or 91 performance if you get lasy and want to save just a touch on the higher oct. prices.
rtredline 05-10-2008, 04:16 PM You only get your 3 custom tunes on the tuner...Nothing Else...
sailing220 05-10-2008, 04:26 PM It doesn't "come with" any tunes...Doug puts three that you choose on it.
howarmat 05-10-2008, 05:03 PM Diablo is not like the xcal2 fellows. Im almost positive you will get the canned diablo tunes:
Stock Vehicle Tune
Performance Tune for 93 octane
Performance Tune for 91 octane
Performance Tune for 87 octane
as they are preloaded into the diablo in a different section. Atleast mine are. But these will not be good for anything more than just a CAI basically. There is a whole different spot where the custom tunes are loaded onto which is where Dougs will show up.
You will get 3 additional tunes or your choice. These will be specific to your mods, all of them and can be updated anytime you get a new mod.
I agree 93 race and torq is a great choice and the a lower oct maybe or the performance. These tunes even if they are written just for the CAI will blow the other 3 on the diablo away.
2007CalSpec 05-10-2008, 05:59 PM I figured it out shortly after I made this post. Thethree "Stock Vehicle Tunes" are what comes with the Predator and is good for a non-modified vehicle. I was confused why there was an 87 Performance option in the drop down custom tune box when ordering the Predator from Bamachips when the Predator already comes with the base"Performance Tune for 87 Octane". I now realize that Doug can make a custom 87 Performance tune based on what mods you've added to your car.
I think I'm going to get the 87 Performance tune, which is what I'll run most of the time, an 89 Torque, and a 91 Performance. I don't think I want the race tunes since I don't race. ;)
howarmat 05-10-2008, 06:37 PM get a higher oct and race....you will kick yourself later if you dont!!!!!
gman73 05-10-2008, 08:20 PM Since the predator already comes with an 87 per. tune. I would get the 89 tq tune from Doug.

The Predator comes with an 87 performance tune for stock vehicles. I wanta custom 87performance tune to run daily with a JLT 2 intake. I'm definitely getting the 89 torque tune also.

The highest octane in my area is 91. Only reason I don't want the race tunes is because of what Doug said on his site...
"BamaChips newest Race tune will further enhance the driveability of your new Mustang. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area I can write a tune that will bring the throttle responce to life. Enough so that I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving use as it may try to jump out from a stop and possibly even spin the tires. This wouldn't be good if you were beside a police car."
I don't street race and I don't plan to hit the tracks.
Unleashedbeast 05-11-2008, 11:55 AM The race tune is nothing more than the performance tune with more sensitive throttle settings. Doug told me this on the phone when I bought my Diablo/CAI combo.
I chose
93 Race
93 Torque
93 Performance
I run nothing less than 93 octane in my car. Don't care that it cost .20 more per gallon either.

shiznit2001 05-11-2008, 02:05 PM how should i decide what tunes i would want to put on my car? that is something im still confused about... :'( and exactly what tunes do what...?
TheBlackPearl 05-11-2008, 04:09 PM Get 93 (or 91) Race. I always ran that tune on my 4.0. It was a COMPLETELY different car after the flash. You will be kicking yourself if you don't.
93 Race
93 Performance
93 Torque
Do it.
MC Stang 05-11-2008, 10:50 PM Generally, what is the cost for the Bama Chips tune for the predator?

How sensitive is the throttle in the race tune? I have a manual car and I don't wanna spin the tires everytime I let off on the clutch and give her some gas. That would be no fun for a daily driver.
