I have a black/red convertible that has to sit outside in direct sunlight in AZ where the sun temps can get up to 120 degrees. What is the protection from these elements?? Was thinking probaly car cover is the only way to go but I dont want to spend to much. (Under $200) Suggestions?

I would get an Eazy up gazebo/tent or whatever its called. you can put it up in like a min, and put it away. And drive under and away from it. Much more useful than a car cover. You can wash your car, take it somewhere blah blah but thats just what i think

While i'm on here researching a TSB for my stang owning buddy, I figured i'd browse around, and can't resist when i run across threads like this to give a little back to the community am looking for help from.  The tent idea is a good one, but a good stable one i'd feel comfortable parking my car under can be a little pricey.  Also, the car has to come out sometime.  Covers are a bad idea for a couple of reasons.  Unless you car is totally free of dust and dirt, putting it under a car cover is going to swirl and scratch your paint.  Assuming that you don't have a garage (why would you ask this question otherwise?) any play in the cover allowing it to move against your cars surface in the wind will exacerbate this problem.

You're best bet is making sure you put down the right product to protect your vynil or cloth top.  If it were my car, i'd be using either the vynil or cloth top kit from 303 products.  If you have a cloth top, i'd also recommend their aerospace protectant for all the vynil/leather inside your car (vynil top kit come with this).  I'd also recommend keeping a good sealant on the paint.  What product you choose for that is personal preference, but a synthetic sealant (as opposed to a wax) should hold up better in that heat.

Even if you do get a tent or some temporary garage structure, the car is going to come out sometime and it better be protected.

I live in Florida and also battle the hot sun. Shade with good ventilation is my opinion. I would suggest getting a metal carport. Single carports are $400 and doubles are $700 around here installed. They are built pretty strong and can handle some good storms and will last years. I agree with Victory and he stated above with the swirling affects of wind under a flimsy canopy/tent. I have a 10X20' canvas type tent/garage for my boat i got from Sams for $200. The wind will flap the sides and stir up the floor dust inside and make the boat filthy.....but still beats letting the sun eat up the finishes on vehicles.

The summers here in Bakersfield are brutal as well.  I'm looking into coverking.com and may order a custom cover in the silverguard material.  If I'm not mistaken, it's under $200, closer to $150 if I remember. The Silverguard+ is around $200.
