Ok, so I went and looked at my gt500 today. just came in last night..I am still going to wait until end of may to get it..however I do have some complaints about it that I cant believe a $46k+ car has on it.
The Exhaust: My gosh it is quiet...I already upgraded to the FRRP stingers
Prop Rod: A freaking prop rod under the hood, are you kidding me. Why would ford still roll them out like that on the GT500....its a $100 mod for crying out loud....I will definitley be doing this change
Eaton supercharger: again, I dont understand why they when this route..they had 2 other gt500s at the lot that the dealer was upgrading the Supercharger to the whipple upgrade...
Stripe seam alignment: this one surprised the hell out of me. I looked at every gt500 (5 of them here and 4 at another dealer) and they all looked the same the stripes had an imperfect overlap to them....I mean you have to look for it but they all did....this truly surprised me...
anyway..I am not whining...just some items I noticed when I went to finnally see my car in person...now the end of May is right around the corner........GT500 club here I come

Congrats on the Shelby! I will be adding the Stingers to mine as well in the next few days. I removed all the stripes off of mine right from the start.

Don't forget the brake dust....I have to spend 30 minutes cleaning the wheels after every second ride or so.

I did notice some imperfections on the stripes too...on the spoiler I have a very slight rub in the stripe. I think I'm just going to get them painted on too down the road.

They could have given a bigger heat exchanger for the Heaton too. All in all, very awesome car though.

Well, considering what I DID GET for 45K, I'm not complaining. Show me how many brand new cars from the factory you can get for 45K with 500 horses stock? Then when you take into the potential of these cars, they really are a great deal. No worries. I know some of you did pay A LOT more than 45K, but either way it is still a great deal IMO. Sure, there are some things that could have been different, but at some point Ford had to draw the line or these cars would have started out a lot higher than they did! If any of you are really annoyed by your GT500's, you can give them to me. :D

Hey cheftjpeck remember me JB we first talked last year when i got my shelby.. CONGRATS u finally did it good move. Youll love it. Its good you brought this pin stripe issue up. I have only one complaint on my GTS and its the pin strips.They are starting to getoff color faded blotches that dont come out.I think it may be due to the minerals in our water and/or the sunbut im not sure anyone else has this problem?Ford has ordered new stripes and they told me there was one other person that had the same thing and they dont know why this happens. I like the stripe anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid this from hapening again I do keep it out of the sun and in the garage and also covered. when not in use mmmmm I hope it aint my cover . Anyway send me LOTS OF pics cheftjpeck of your gem.

You really should look at a car before ripping on it.The Bullitt has NO NON-FUNCTIONAL SCOOPS.:eek:

yes I do remember you and thx for the well wishes..as far as stripes ...I know silver metallic stripes all seem to pit and get blotchy ...I had 2 sets on my former GT in 2 years and they all did that...my local ford dealer will not put on silver met stripes anymore....my car was garage kept...I know several people who had the same issues with silver met...as far as the original post on this..I Am not WHINING...just pointing out a few surprising flaws....thats all...and I am getting mine for $500 below msrp....but was still surprised to see these isues..thats all...I will still love it..dont get me wrong...

LOL, Well, I spent an extra 27k for the 40th anniversary and 605hp Supersnake Package. The borlas that come with the package are slightly louder than the stock ones, however, I purchased the FORD RACING 5GT's ( made by BORLA) and these are the ticket! This thing sounds mean now! I really respect your concerns about your cars. I, however, can't hardly bare hearing that you are "disappointed" in certain aspects of the GT500!!!

I understand they have certain things that could be improved on, but the car really is something to be admired.

Hmm, complaints?
1) Vinyl Stripes - are you kidding me? Then again Ford did that on the Ford GT as well and had the option for paint. Ford is a bunch of retards with that crap. Paint is better and should of been the only option for both the GT500 and the Ford GT.
2) Mirrors should of been painted and not cheap plastic. (clearly cutting costs)
3) Prop rod is a small thing but they could of done better.
4) Rim options could of been better and wider on the rears. I think a 10" width would of been a bit smarter on the back.
5) Exhaust is very tame. I think they should of had magnaflows or borla's as an option.
6) Drive Shaft - 44 lbs, two piece? umm what were they thinking.
7) Cast Iron Block - why? The Ford GT engine was perfect for this application! What were they thinking! I think most people would of shelled out 8k more to have the Aluminum block and save 300lbs!


Other than that the car is great. It has a luxury type ride until you get on it. Then it shows its teeth. I wish the supercharger was a Ken Bell or whipple but it is what it is so I will just have to mod it later!

I thought the "Build" of my car would be more for lack of a better term "satisfying[&:]" and I DO NOT regret doing everything the way I did but now that the prices are coming down on these bad as GT500's and I have the Ford "A" plan thru my twin I could get one at or just above MSRP!:D My build has not cost me more than it would cost to build a "true" GT500 but I want the bigger and stornger 5.4L 4V very badly and the car itself is very detuned and has so much more potential with minimal mods...... OH well who knows what the future will bring.... maybe I will keep this one and buy a GT500?;) Take care bro and post it up when you take delivery!....cant wait to see it! J

Though very valid negative points on the GT500 the car that the OP stated- Overall I would agree with you freefallpat that almost everyone that has one loves it and I know the OP will too (or he would not have bought one;)).

You almost bought a GT40,Ford GT,Whichever.I love my 500 but the GT is a sweeeeeeeeeet ride!That decision would be little esier for me.Not tht I don't like my 500.:D

100% agree.....I will love my car when I get it in 11 days....no doubt.albeit I did title this thread COMPLAINTS...not really complaining...maybe surprised is a little better way of looking at it...I cant wait to drive my car I am so looking forward to it....overall I still believe the GT500 is a great base car with a INCREDIBLE upside, if someone so chooses...for me it will be an awesome ride to use as my daily driver....even at $4.00 per gallon ;)...

This car is unbelievable, I would think the same even if I paid double the price that some have!

i actually wouldnt have paid 5 or 10 over sticker for this car. i somehow got it at about sticker and i kind of wish i had gone the faster route with the vette.

but its still a shelby:)
