I'll make it short.

I have a X-Charger HI-PO Kit with 2.8" pulley. It came with the tune from Bamachips and the X3 Calibrator. Here's the thing.

With the tune I got from Bamachips, at WOT the RPMs go up and tend to shift near the 6300 RPM limit and never go down from it save a few hundred RPMs. After doing a about 2-3 WOTs, I can smell almost a burning rubber scent, but its not my tires. My brother says its probably the belt. I think its the radiator fluid I accidentally spilled on the blower that I tried to wipe off but its just burning off. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or know what it is?

(Note: I had my car dynotuned by BBR and when I used their tune, it shifts earlier and doesn't stay near the RPM limit for too long at all, and no smell.)

The other thing is this. The X-Charger is supposed to be quiet when not at WOT, mine isn't. Whenever I accelerate, I can hear this ricey engine sound coming from my engine compartment. Anyone know what the hell is going on?

Once mine gets here I'll post some feedback.

Mines a stick so it wont be the same.

I know with the Bama tune Im running now the rpms stay up when i take it out of gear,, i assume that for ease of shifting.

as for the sound,,, like i said ,, mine is not here yet but I'll guess when it is not making boost the blower has to blow something.

idk...superchargers are known to whine and i guess you could call that "ricey"...another possibility is(and idk if this is done on these or not...), but on my friend's GTP, it sounded like crap and stunk - oil in supercharger was low/needed changed r something...

but you say with another tune, it's fine...i'd say your car is revvin too high to me...6300???that's way past redline, redline's around 5700 isn't it???

The ricey engine sound is almost like two pieces of metal vibrating against each other. And it's not the STB or the CAI.

I'm not too worried about it. I'm more worried about that burning smell. You think it might be the belt burning or the blower or maybe just leftover greese from the radiator fluid I spilled/wiped up?

I would take it to the dealer that installed it for you and have them look over it and check every nut and bolt, and for leaks.  And in your other post about the dyno tunes, I take it you have an auto; autos put significantly less HP and Torque to the ground versus a manual.  Meaning, you may be making exactly the gains you were expecting at the crank, the tranny is reducing it.

Did you call Dave ? What happen to those who suggested the X-charger? I remember before that Maverick asked w/c supercharge to purchace, everybody in the forum told him to go with X-charger over Votech Paxton.

He paid a dealer to install it, after Dave spoke against it, because he had a stuck bolt (which is fine, not everyone wants to risk damaging their engine).  Now, he doesn't know if it was even installed correctly, and his install has seemed to be plagued with problems.  Which is why I suggested he take it back to the folks that put it on, and make it right.  He paid them to do it.  They should stand behind their work.

And for the ricey sound... the engine isn't pinging is it?

Belt too tight?  The tensioner is still there, don't see how it can be too tight.

Unfortunately, without eyes on the car, no one can diagnose anything.

Performance wise, there really isn't anything wrong, as far as for the ricey sound and the weird burning smell.

Both are just simply annoying and I'm not sure if long term, it could be a problem.

When I get my driveshaft and gears in and take it to BBR to install, I'll see if they can figure out the problem. They can probably determine if the burning smell is radiator residue burning or engine. As for the sound, they might be a bit more difficult. Who knows.

Suppose I'll wait and see.

He is right NO ONE can diagnose without looking at it. The metal sound could be detonation, the smell should be gone by now if you just spilled something....IMO the longer you wait, the more you risk blowing that motor!
