alright, so this might be a dumb and pointless question but it bugs me pretty bad sometimes lol...half the time when i exit my car my passenger side is locked and half the time its unlocked, is there a special procedure when turning the car off etc. to get it to unlock everytime? it makes me look dumb when i walk around the other side and its locked and i have to walk all the way around the drivers side again cause i leave my keys in there sometimes...its a manual by the way, any comments will help thank you

When you unlock your car with the remote, do you press the unlock button 1 times or 2?

+1.

Also, go to your manual and follow the directions on how to deprogram this stupid autolock.
I did this this on mine before leaving the dealer's lot.
Same thing on my F150.

What the other's said. It's the autolocking feature. Our van's got it too and it annoys the hell out of me.

I kind of know what you mean, although my passenger side is locked and stays locked until I unlock it. Best thing to do is when you open your door to get out, press the "unlock" button to unlock the passenger's side door.

i have a manual too and i've never had that problem.. i haven't had to deprogram any autolock mode.. usually when i go to my car i press the unlock button twice so it unlocks both.. idk what to tell you, maybe you should call up the dealer you got it from have them take a look at it or something.. it sounds like its an autolock problem from what you described though.. maybe it locks after a certain amount of time and half the time you get out before it locks and half the time you get out after it locks.. good luck with solving that

we are just having a very hard time figuring out why you are exiting the car and trying to open the passenger side door without your keys!
I admit sometimes, when I have one heavy shopping bag, I'll put it on the front floor passenger side and when I get home I won't want to reach over and pull it over me while I try to squeeze out my driver side door without denting my neighbors car parked next to mine.

But I would never dream of leaving my keys in the car, so I just unlock the doors with the fob.

well when i pull in from school i leave my keys in my car because i usually leave about ten minutes after i get home anyways, and i forget to unlock it to get my bag out so i end up walking all the way around to unlock it and all the way back, i was just wondering if anybody knew a certain procedure to make them unlock the way they are suppose to when you cut off the engine

Ok, first.  The manual trannys do not have the autolock feature. So if your doors are locked and you use your keyfob to open it.  Your not pressing your unlock button twice.  So the passenger door is locked from the start.  If you happen to get into the car and press lock.  Both doors will be locked.  When you open the door the drivers door to leave.  It will NOT unlock the passenger door unless you press the unlock button on the door.  So your question about why it only happens half the time is probably because.  The half the time your pressing unlock twice on the keyfob.  Simple as that.
