I'm having some severe wheelspin at the top of first gear a boost hits max and that's taking off from a roll.It seems to be fair on the street until this point.Any advice on getting Eagle F1's to hook.It might be better at the track,Might be worse.Any advice other than new tires would be helpful.

You've got alot of power under the hood man, not sure if those tires would be that great.  Are you just easing into the throttle or trying to gun it?  Are those F1's the stock tires on the GT500?

trying to put that much power and torque to the ground with stock F1's during WOT at such low speeds is like trying to deliver a baby with razor wire... it just isn't going to work.

try DR's or less throttle... more weight in the back could help, like sandbags and such, that will give you weight above the rear tires and they should be less prone to slipping when it's warm out.... which is another factor you should pay attention to... make sure it's a summer temperature out, flooring it at 40-60 degrees is just asking for slippage at any speeds in 1st gear

You ever have trouble with traction during normal driving?

yeah, even with torque management in full effect... if I turn TC off and it's even a little cold out, going into second will send me sideways... I have it down to a science where if it's over 70 degrees I will just bark second and hit it with no problems... anything under that and it's up in the air

I never floor my car during first gear speeds unless I'm going from a stop.... when that automatic finds 1st from a low roll it hits hard and sends the car all over the place

just wait till I get a tune and null down the torque management

Can you limit boost via the ecm/pcm? thats what i do in first to help a little bit with tire spin and it makes the car drive much smoother.

Is there a reason why don't want to put a proper sized tire on the car?  By all accounts, the stock tires are way too narrow.

Amen. The GT500 needs at least 295's out back.
Some LCA/UCA's couldn't hurt either.

When I get a GT500, I will have new tires, UCA/LCA's within the first week.  Plus I plan on doing gears, so it's pretty much a must.

Yeah the F1s come stock on the GT500s. I know when my buddy got his GT500 he was all shocked my car came with F1s stock like his GT500 had. I don't have trouble hooking up with F1s, though I only have 410rwhp and 415rwtq on an IRS car. lol.

They are 285 40 18s and still don't like to hook up even at 75 degrees out.Seems I remember 70 degrees being the magic number with my 05 GTOs also.I figured they were at least in the ballpark on width.Planning the evolution stage 2 upgrade but I'm going to have to do something about traction first or it will slow down for sure.If I ease it up to about 20mph  and run it out to 5400 the tires start to spin pretty good.I guess I'll have to try and play with weight and pressure first.

285's come stock? Some 315's should help a lot

Yeah,They are pretty wide but I guess I'll have to see what larger ones might fit if some adjustments and/Or suspension upgrades don't work before the Evolution stuff.

How much did you pay for the car?  How much are two decent sized tires?  Why are we having this discussion?

I hate having no traction in first and second gear, but it does teach you how to modulate the gas pedal (it''s not an on/off switch).  But my rears are almost due for replacement and something stickier is going on for sure.

BFG DR's?
I hate not having much traction through first gear...

if the car is not a DD get some decent tires - DRs will solve most of the problem IMO

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction.

This is a must!!  My experience with DRs on the street is good/bad.  They have great straight line acceleration and mediocre to poor cornering ability.  I have not looked in to the Nitto line, but I thought they made a DR type tire with a sidewall more designed for road racing?  This might be something a DD could use.  The BFGs and MT streets are not near as responsive as the BFG KDs I have out back (295s).

So you need:

A driver mod
suspension mods
tires

I've got a few choices - none of them are going to be D/R's.  The car handles like a wet dream - I'm not screwing that up for pure straight line accleration.

Bridgestone just came out with runflats in the stock Z06 sizes - good reviews so far.

Nitto Invos come in the stock front size, but not the rear. Ditto the Michelin PS Cups. Then there are the Hossier R compounds.  Deadly  in the rain and 1,000 mile tire life.  Pass.

What size are the back tires? 325 40 19 or something right?
