Its not often that I drive the speed limit in my mustang , and I have not wrecked it in 4 years. I was thinking that maybe because I drive more aggressive it makes me pay better attention to the road as opposed to always driving slow and thus feeling more laid back and maybe not paying attention. Of course there are always those wreck where no matter what your screwed because its someone else running the red light , but still i think driving the speed limit and not doing 90mph lessens the effects of a wreck not in your control.
So i did some research to find some statistics
-There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005.
- 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed
-Men are more than twice as likely to die in a car crash than women
-73 percent of all people killed in car accidents are male
- men do about 60-65% more driving than women.
-Studies show that woman take shorter trips and female drivers have a greater number of minor crashes than do men. However men are still 70% more likely to be in a serious crash.
-In 2006, 1,794 children age 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle crashes
-In 2006, there were 13,470 fatalities in crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver (BAC of .08 or higher) – 32 percent of total traffic fatalities for the year.
-since 1983 alcohol related automobile deaths have drooped 23%
