So yesterday I washed my 08 GT alloy metalic when I noticed that there was what looks to be 2 drip marks and a run in that factory paint. I it isn't very noticeable except when the light hits it just right since it is almost under the factory GT spoiler. My question since I don't know much about paint to everyone is this. Is a whole respray of the trunk deck needed or would they just wet sand it out and maybe respray the clear? I have already shown this defect to the salesman I bought it from and he said it would not be a problem for the dealership to take care of at their bodyshop at their expense. I've been thinking of getting the holes filed on the trunk and going with the spoiler delete, if I could get the dealership to do it at their expense because of a factory defect that would be great. Thanks in advance for everyones input.

I would definately talk to the dealer about it asap. I noticed on my 05 gt it has a run on the edge of the hood, which would be a factory flaw. I am not too worried about it since I will be replacing the hood. OH and go for the spoiler delete
Ok, as an update I took it to the dealership body shop and they said they would just respray it on Ford's dime instead of trying to wet sand and buff it. Unfortunately when I asked them about how much it would cost to fill the holes in the process they told me around six hours or $240. I'm no bodyman but this seems like it is a much quicker job to fill then six hours. I was thinking more like two to three hours max to prep them. Anyone with professional bodywork experience chime in here to give me a reasalistic timeframe to do this? If it ends up costing as much as they want I'll probably just go w/ the gt500 spoiler painted on ebay and put that on once they fix the trunk.

not a bad price. you figure sanding, filling, drying, sanding, re appliying filling, more sanding, primer, maybe abother primer drying, paint, drying, more paint if needed, drying again. Clear coat, dry, clear coat, dry, clear coat, dry, buffing and waxing..
so yea thats a good price.

Hey Pascal you should let folks know in your sig that you're a bodyman. If I was on here first time and you gave me some advice I wouldn't know who the hell you were and would take it with a grain of salt. Fortunately most of the regulars know who you are. Make a sig with your shop info (if that's allowed) so folks know they're getting advice from an expert. JMO...
Unfortunately we never know who's giving advice here. It could be some really intelligent 10 year old who's trawled the forums, posted up some linked pic and think they're an expert now . I'm no expert myself but I only really respond to things I know. And sometimes find out that I don't really know that much about a subject and learn a lot. That's why I'm here. But I'd love to know that the person giving me advice is an expert/shop owner/etc. like you are.

Good to know. I really had no idea, I just figured, hell how hard could 4 holes be to fix? I was thinking this quote involved 3 hours of work and 6 half hour breaks. I guess now I have to decide if I really want the spoiler delete or not since this is my best and cheapest way to do it. Update coming soon on the decision and some pics of the before and after.

I don't see 6 hours if they include the prep of the hole area in the prep of the decklid ...
I do hope they are going to weld them shut ... grind smooth ... a skim coat of filler .... sand .. prep and paint .... If you want the bottom to look as good as the top ... gonna cost you more so maybe they were considering that in the 6 hours ..
Do they have a spoilerless car on the lot? Maybe they'll do a swap ...
