sweet bro! glad to see your finally doing something other then cosmetic!
do her right, take it appart, clean it up, and paint it.
gt40's and a cam would do wonders! porting the gt40's could get expensive for your budget.
good luck!

Well i can get more money if i need it... my starter is sh*t on my motor right now, so i have to push start it everywhere i go (by myself... i weigh 140 lbs... its tough) sooo yeah.... if i need more i can get more towards the build, rather than having to bust my a$$ to change the starter for a motor i don't plan on using

LOL ok ok....351 is my DREAM, but i A can't afford a one OR the gas prices
I drive like 30 miles in town to get to work with gas almost $4 a gallon (locally) i can't afford it.
So i'm just doing a mild 302 build for now, till i can afford something else thats nice...
Oh and i make sh*t for money cause im only 17, and work basically minimum wage... ANYWHO!
I'm getting a trickflow cam, edelbrock rpm air gap intake. And i'm shopping around for gt-40 heads (IF ANYBODY HAS ANY FOR CHEAP LET ME KNOW PLEASE!)
This will be my first engine rebuild, and as you can tell im really nervous about messing it up, and i want to get the most power for my money....
Does this sound like a decent set up? or what else should i be looking for?
Oh, another question, what carburater should i run with this setup... the one i have on my current engine blows dick. so i need to find something that will be sufficent for the build, but nothing to serious.
Thanks for all the help and ideas guys. i really appreciate it.

I have an edelbrock 1405/600cfm on my 92 with an f-cam , ported e7's and performer 289 intake and it runs well...a 600 should be all you need on that build....just tune it right and you'll be fine
my brother is asking me all kinds of questions about 'stangs, but the one hes looking at is carbed, and idk jack about carb's

Ok, so if i were to buy a topend kit from trickflow....
that is for fuel injected... what would i need to do to convert the wiring harness???
Would a normal wiring harness work for a 1988 5.0 from painless... or would what would i need... since my car is an 84... i have no idea.. im new to all the car stuff... and everybody around here is wanting me to look at other options.... Soooo, what all would be needed to do this?
I would stick with the carb setup IMO for the ease of things considering this is your first build. Going EFI is gonna cost more coin than just sticking an edelbrock 600 on with the setup your looking at (GT-40's, TFS 1 cam) and maybe a set of long tubes......they are like a $100 from Jegs.
well you kinda over paid for the motor, but to have a good port job done your looking about $350 i paid $250 for a complete running motor out of a wrecked 5.0 explorer so just be paitent man, if you rush into this you will be broke WAY before the motor is done. i acculy have a complete motor for sale that is ready to be crated up and shiped to you if you wanna go that route? and its not that expensive either. pm me for info if you wanna no about it. its ruffly 345hp. it dynoed at 366hp at the crank soooo say 330-345hp at the wheels
hahah and how much are you wanting for this motor?
Well i live in Bel Aire....
But i work at the mall on the east side of town so my car is at the mall a lot by the Bank of America parking lot... i don't have a set schedule so i can't tell you when i would be there...
