need a c4 for a  67- v8, want to rebuild it my self. Was there any diferance if so what to look for? About how much should I spend for one that will need rebuild? Thank you!

rmodel65 -> RE: c4 (5/9/2008 8:41:16 PM)

a core maybe 50-100 $ the rebuild is pretty easy it doens trequire any expensive tools, i used a tci kit and bought a new stall converter to go with the last one i rebuilt

anderson sc -> RE: c4 (5/9/2008 8:44:26 PM)

I have rebuild trannys before but never had to find one, is there anything I should look for (type of bell housing) so on?

67coupe -> RE: c4 (5/9/2008 9:57:49 PM)

As long as it is a 6-bolt bellhousing you should be good. They did change the splines on the converter lmid 70's I think, but as long as you have the converter for the trans you buy you should be good.

anderson sc -> RE: c4 (5/10/2008 7:53:44 PM)

THANK YOU FOR THE INFOR. WHEN WAS THE C4  STOPED BEING MADE. WOULD A NEWER TRANNY WORK? THE ONLY FORD TRANY I REBUILD WAS A A4LD. SO I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT FORD TRANS. KEEP IN MINE THIS CAR IS GOING TO MY WIFES DAILY DRIVER ,NO HOT ROD STUFF.

tyler72 -> RE: c4 (5/10/2008 9:02:20 PM)

65-69 is pan fill 24 spline. 70 and up is case fill 26 spline. Obviously, the more splines the stronger and more reliable it is, so look for a C4 with the dipstick in the case, not the pan. Also, the parts for these are cheaper as well.

STOP YELLING. NO NEED FOR CAPS.
