because, the driveway is a slope, and its smart to use it. i hate when people swear you don't need it, and tell you you shouldn't use it.

you, well, your dumb for not using it with a manual. either your car is going to roll away, or your putting unnecessary stress on your tranny.

You don't need to use the parking brake if you have an auto. It's called park for a reason.

it is better for the transmission to have something supporting the weight of the car, especially on a steep grade. have you never parked an auto car with the e brake off, and had a hard time getting it out of park? there is a reason that many vehicles call it the parking brake...

haha I dont even have a parking brake in my fox. Extra weight and the fact I have yet to figure out how to work it with the turbocoupe disc. My one friend always swore by using the parking brake on her car with auto which I told her dont use it because it was an older car and has not been driven in a while. Well she did not want to listen to me and sure as crap the cables froze up and the brakes got so hot it caught the car on fire and total loss. So their is a reason behind my madness.

In other words did you try pulling the lever and lift up on the pedal with hand?

so ace, your saying that if i use the parking brake, my car will catch on fire and explode? thats faulty equipment buddy, give me a break (no pun intended). you know what its there for. its on the car for a reason. why don't people get this? its to hold the car in place. ever notice on a steep grade, you put it in park take your foot off the brake, and the car rolls back and forth a little? i'm sure thats GREAT for the tranny.
yes, i tried both of those. my dad's getting it fixed today i think.

ACE is saying not to use it if you haven't used it for awhile cause they tend to hang up. And leave it to a girl to not realize the brakes are hanging up.
