Wireless Cable...?

So if a wireless router can deliver enough of a signal to a computer for an internet connection, is there any type of similar device on the market that can do for cable television?  If not, why not?

I've only got one cable jack, of course in my living room.  I'm getting a new TV soon.  Thats going to leave me with an extra TV, which should go into my bedroom or upstairs to my office.  But, my apartment complex doesn't allow outside drilling, so I have to make-do with a single cable jack.  I'm not going to string three miles of coax throughout my apt. so I'm looking for other solutions.

as fas as i know there is no other solution but i may be wrong
they do sell extra thin cble that you can hide

Simple answer, no. The cable TV signal is entirely different than the wireless data that your computers send. Cable television requires massive amounts of bandwidth and there is nothing that will simply plug into a coax wall plate and have a another wireless end point you can plug your TV into.

There are solutions though. Things like using a Media Center computer with a wireless extender in another room, but that all gets tricky too, especially with cable, since there is currently no way to utilize cable to it's fullest extent with a Media Center computer (digital requires a cable card, and none currently support PPV, VOD, SDV, or anything bi-directional).

Pretty much anything you could do would be half assed. Unfortunately you just need another coax jack.

Right on, thats what I was wondering.  In that case I will probably just get rid of this TV (Or stick it in a closet) and get rid of it's entertainment center as well.

So...get an RF remote and stash an additional cable box where you have a cable jack.   There are CERTAINALY solutions to transmit audio/video without cable.  Easy low cost solution.

If I remember correctly, there is wireless HDMI. Can't you connect the coax into an adapter or something and have HDMI coming out?

Link. I'm not sure I'd trust this, but it might work. Plus it has a video!

Hrm...thats exactly the type of device I had in mind.  I wonder if it really works.

No, there is. My friend has it for comcast cable. He has a reciever on two other TV's and can change the channel from one set-top box.

I dont know the make or company, but ill try to find out for you.

It has 4 channels and can be used on 4 tv's

Yes, but the cable transmission terminates at the STB.  There is no "wirless digital cable transmission" orrcuring.  The STB is treaming the A/V to the TV, not the raw cable.

I don't want dish, I'm happy with my cable service.  Plus, the only place I am allowed to put a dish is on my patio, which is connected to my living room.  Putting the dish out there would leave me in the same spot I am in now.

Bunny ears?  Do they still make those things?  I'd never use them, I'd just as soon not have any TV at all than just watch PBS.

Like I said, there are ways to do it, but they are half assed, like setting up a box to transmit wireless video and remote signals.

I guess you didn't read the OP.  His question was not "how can I get programming into my house without cable."  It was "how can I get my existing programming into a room with no cable jack without running wires."

But he can change the channels on the STB, from upstairs, while the STB is downstairs.
