try replacing the fuel filter and run fuel system cleaner in your next tank.

your ignition could probably also use a tune-up.

correct me if im wrong but from what i understang your saying when you release the clutch pedal the car is not moving? when you push the gas pedal its starts to move, sounds like the clutch is badly slipping, please take your time typing so we can clearly understand what your saying and help you out,

when i engage the clutch into gear it works fine but the engine dosn't respond when i hit the gas or it starts to jerk the whole time .....its when i engage the clutch that it dosn't do any thing unless i rev the engine and get the rpm up and then engage then i responds ands accelerates rpms

the clutch it pretty good it lost traction a few times and clutch dosnt seem to be slipping

Yes it would mean the Cats most likely.  I'm not sure if it applied to 87's but back in the early 90's there was a recall issued on my 88 that involved melting catylist melting. My stock exhaust was replaced from the back of the headers to the midway flange. Now I'm sure the recall wouldn't still be valid but you may want to check if was preformed on your car and if not you may have your problem.(Mine did have plugged cats and ran just as you descirbed).
