View Full Version : Update: 3 tone car? has anyone seen one? Pics of my car added
logicbombx 05-09-2008, 01:03 PM I have an 07 grabber orange mustang. I bought it used. Some interesting things happened to the car while it was at the dealer. It didn't sell so they tried to make it a bit more attractive.
First they painted pin stripes on the car. Then they added a spoiler and black rally stripes after the pin stripes didn't work. Then crazy me found the car online and fell in love.
So here is my question. Has anyone seen a 3 tone car? I'm thinking about adding silver rocker stripes to the side of my car. There are two pin stripes on my car. Black on the top silver on the bottom. So I thought adding silver rocker stripes would keep with the color scheme. Silver on the sides, black on the top.
What do you think? Am I crazy? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
ink003 05-09-2008, 01:13 PM throw some pics up here! i'm sure someone'll photoshop it forya for comparison's sake.
Tracedaddy 05-09-2008, 01:16 PM I just added blue pins to my silver stripes. (On a black car.)
I'll get some pics tomorrow. I think it looks pretty good.
Someone else on here has a white car with silver stripes and red pins. That was nice too.
plutnicki 05-09-2008, 01:17 PM Agreed, I gotta see the car as it is now to picture this. My friends/family have told me that
the hood/roof stripes and rocker stripes are too busy. So, rally + pins + rockers sound like a
lot to me.
Post some pics!

Maverickaf17 05-09-2008, 03:15 PM 3 tone car sounds like a ricer.
In that case, you might as well put lime green flames on the side and a purple stripe from front to back that goes along the driver side.
Then again...who knows, it might turn out badass...

I have seen that on some of the rental turn in cars at the Ford used
dealership.
Not my cup o tea but what the hey, its your baby.
n8491a 05-09-2008, 03:33 PM I like the black racing stripes on thegrabber orange. Don't like the side pin stripes as much, and if you add any more stripes your 'Stang might start looking like a bad pair of golf pants. JMHO of course.
plutnicki 05-09-2008, 04:21 PM My $0.02? Pull the pins, replace the factory vinyl with vinyl or paint that runs down
the bumpers in the front and rear. Then, if you have $$, and still think it needs it, think about
rockers.
Not liking those pins at all, personally, especially on the back the way they
seem to run perpendicular to the ones on the sides. Wierd, IMHO.
I would definitely NOT add rocker stripes, of either color, to that combo.
Anyway, not my car, do what you like. But, you did ask... :)

First they painted pin stripes on the car.
I have a hard time believing they painted pin stripes on a car

yup, painted pin stripes. I kinda like them, just trying to figure out if a silver rocker would really set it off.
157db 05-09-2008, 05:04 PM Double check, those cant be PAINTED pin stripes.
I have seen the exact same ones on used stangs here.
And they ae all aftermarket vynal stripes.

Trust me, they are painted.
pat123 05-09-2008, 05:55 PM I agree; paint the wide stripes to cover the front and back bumpers and lose the pinstripes completely. Pinstripes are for your mom's mini van. I think that you should add painted GT rockers and call the painting done.

moosestang 05-09-2008, 05:55 PM I had those same pin stripes on my car. I had the dealer remove them before I bought it.

yessir, nice
Derf00 05-09-2008, 06:08 PM didn't pin stripes on carsgo out in the 80's? JMHO
05Saleen#243 05-09-2008, 06:14 PM Take off the pin stripes and replace the black racing stripes with silver ones that go all the way down the front and rear bumpers. Then you'll be good to go ;)
Stndbck 05-09-2008, 06:16 PM You have enough stripes.. leave it be. Not a lot of GO's here in Jersey from what I have seen around.
Wonder what a GO would look like with tiger style stripes on it....just curious.....Now that would be a fun thing to photoshop.
jlczl 05-09-2008, 07:02 PM Mine had silver pinstripes, had them remove them b4 I signed the dotted line. :)
logicbombx 05-09-2008, 08:21 PM pinstripe envy :)
landon.moss 05-09-2008, 09:20 PM it took me awhile to even see them, so they must not be too ugly...don't mind it, but pinstripes go on trucks and motorcycles - however if they are painted (yes, some people do paint on pinstripes) i'd leave it - it's not horrible imo but i wouldn't add anything else stripe-wise
i do like the racing stripes that go all the way down, but i don't mind em cut off like that either - what i do HATE is stripes that have the gaps around the brake light, fake fuel door - and the bigge...the inside of the license plate area is left alone - sure, it'd have to be painted, but if you're gonna spend the time and money to go bumper to bumper, please no gaps :D
pat123 05-09-2008, 09:34 PM Yes; it is a Roush grill
Garyboi23 05-09-2008, 10:22 PM I have never seen one, sorry man!
