ummmm......cobra
duh....not to sound likea dick but a Bullitt can maybe(andI stress maybe)hang with a 99/01 Cobra but not an 03/04 Termi Cobra. ..It only will get more complicated from there with all of the different editions of the Wonderful Mustang!

as far as price thats not really an issue i just dont want to get something and find out theres something else better so then the cobra has a more powerful engine than the rest
what about a standard gt
is there a whole lot of difference?

Huge difference. I'm not too knowledgable in the 04 and down line of Mustangs but I believe the Mach 1 has the same block as the Cobra without an S/C. If it were me, I'd probably go that route and strap a Kenne Bell on there and call it a day. The 4V motors are great platforms

Dont bother witha GT Mustang...you wont be happy with it compared to the others. Roush and Saleen have 3 different stages each. Ppl would say the Roush is more about business at the track while the Saleen belongs in shows. Just opinions though. Couldnt go wrong with either one. The Bullitt is a pumped up version of the GT, better handling and accleration as well as a rare car. Nice touches to it. The Mach 1 is a Termi Cobra with out the S/C. So to answer your question if there is a big difference, well yes. But all in all the termi Cobra reigns surpreme over all!

2 versions. 99-01 has a N/A 4V 4.6l V8 making 320 crank hp whereas the 03-04 version has a supercharged 4V 4.6l V8 making 390 crank hp.

I'd go with a Premium package Mustang GT, ordered the way you want it. then, for about 18 grand on top of the $30,00.00 , you'll have a fully changed out suspension that goes well beyond the Saleen/Roush standard, you'll have a Saleen or whipple blower and be putting down 475rwhp/550 flywheel, big brakes, tasteful body alterations, great lighter wheels and tires, ect... the car will weigh about 3620lbs or so. This is if you like individual dressed up versions of the Mustang GT.
The car will be a good deal less money than the Saleen/Roush counterparts at that level of performance, it weill handle better eith all the extra Steeda goodies on top of the Standard suspension upgrades, and because it is 320lbs lighter than the GT500, a GT500 would have to be brought up to 595 flywheel HP to match your speed, and it still won't handle nearly as well. You will have a superior handling car that is a tad lighter than the 03 cobras, again at 550 flywheel HP, with a far better torquel suspension. Erik

Saleen suspension: springs, shocks, struts, frnt swaybar, watts link replacing the panhard bar and brace with rear swaybar.
Steeda suspension: STB, g-trac bar, front swaybar braces, front LCR re-location kit, X-5 Ball joints, bumpsteer kit(properly installed), red disk motor mounts, Shock tower brace, rear LCR's, adjustable UCA, rear LCR re-location brackets, dual triangulated chasis support. Really drives great . Erik

I think Roush is a great price too. I have an 05 Stage 2 Conv with everything but the supercharger. I will ship it to Stage 3 motorsports and get the P-51 Charger/Engine kit for $12K installed and will put out 650HP. You can get a Stage 1 Roush cheap and do same for around $50K. Much better than Shelby.

No offense man, but you are going about this ALL wrong if you're thinking you are going to buy ANY car and then not find/see something better [&:] And you have a lot of research to do if you are looking to make and informed purchase but don't know if there is much difference between a Cobra and a GT model.
The Cobra is the tops due to its motor....it has a forged bottom to begin with and the 32v motor can handle a lot of mods out of the gate for big power gains.....were talking 500-600+ easily. You won't get anywhere near that with a 00-04 GT unless you plan to pull the motor and do some serious building. So if you are a gear-head looking to mod it up for power -which it sounds like you are (and I don't mean that in a bad way) - then Cobra would be the way to go.
If you are not looking to spend a lot of money and time modding up, then a nice 00-04 Saleen or Roush with an s/c would be quite an improvement for you compared to your current 2000 (assuming its a GT). A Mach I would even be a nice improvement as well at 305 crank hp.

+1 on the above. Don't let other people make a mistake for you.....put some serious time into doing your own research on the cars you're interested in.Only you know exactly what you are looking for....
Come here if you have questions about nuances aboutdifferent aspects. So far....you've done the equivalent of walking into a liquor store and asking for something with alcohol in it ;).
