I'm looking at getting some custom gauges designed for my '97 V6 (which has a maximum of 120mph on the gauges).  One of the options when being designed is an increase to 150, 160, and even 200 mph from the default 120.

Is there a way to recalibrate the car to accept the increase up to 150/160/200mph accurately?

Thanks!

I thought that would require a new gauge, not a new gauge face.  We had a guy a couple of weeks ago put a new face on his and was just wanting to know how to fix it.

Yeah I should have clarified that these are custom gauge faces.

we have a couple of people/kids a year that come on here wanting to try and fix their "custom faced gauges".  The needles do not just pop-off and pop-on they way they have descibed.  They are really not made to be removed and you can do alot of damage to a critical part of your car with a $20 add on.

I don't think you read a single word of what I just asked.  I'm asking whether or not its possible, either through the ECU or another component, for it to recognize the larger gauge face, or if I'm going to need to have it professionally altered.  I don't really want a speech on something that I'm not doing.

If your V6 can't break 85, why have a 150 mph speedo?

and still...he wouldnt even touch 100 lol..but if he's really interested in doing it just get the whole cluster from a mach or a cobra...im pretty sure that would look sweet enough i mean who really is going to think that a v6 will hit 200(not to say it cant happen)...if you use the whole cluster then you would only need a diablo tuner to reprogram the speedo...
