So i had what sounded like a bad idle, possibly missing and decided to pull the vaccum hose on the egr valve as soon as i did it idled way better. Is the valve bad, or is it something else with the egr system. Give me your opinions please and if you have any tips on how to figure it out please let me know thx.

Clean your EGR valve. Its probably gummed up with all kindas of ****.

Also did you plug the vacuum line when you took it off?

no i just took it off temporarilly. Does the valve open when there is vaccum or when there is not? Ill take it off later today and clean it though and see if it makes a difference, i doubt its ever been cleaned and has 161,000 miles on it

so i am assuming the vaccum line should not be pulling vaccum at idle correct? cause the idles horrible with it connected to the egr and i know its pulling vaccum. I tried cleaning the egr and it didnt look too bad, no difference in idle condition.

Check to see if your EGR controls (back side of the passenger strut tower) are open or closed. If there open try replacing them with a JY unit
