combo doesn't seem bad  a  but I'd put a 58 cc head to have as much compression as you can..I'm more so a fan of comps xe series cams..I have an xe282 cam afr 185's and rpm air gap intake and 650 carb..so your build parrallels mine kind of and  I ran 11.79  at 117 so you should have a stout 347

Appears that the guys at fordstrokers.com are quite the stand up type, but I think I would prefer to build my own from start to finish.  Im in the Aurora Area (IL) Western burbs of CHicago.  So DSS would be no freight necessary.  I was planning on buying one of there kits.  IF not dss what kits would be recomended? Coast, Scat?  What would total machining costs of a used bare block run me (Ballpark, I understand prices vary and u get what u pay for)...

If you're in Aurora, IL.... guess where Fordstrokers is located at?........... West Chicago, is it that far away for you?

BTW..... wouldn't a single plane with a 750 CFM suit those CID's better? .....the cam is "another 20 bucks" ..... just a thought.

If the car is going to be pretty much strip only, then I would say that a single plane would work just fine, but if you plan to street drive it any, then I would suggest getting an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake. I have one and love it. They are really good from 1500 up to about 8000 RPM, so it should suit your needs well.

Stay away from cams with the same lift and duration for both exhaust and intake. Like mjr46 siad, a comp xe cam (or another brand with a split duration) would be a better choice for you. Its newer technology, and you can make more power over a broader RPM range.

Just my 2 cents worth.
