larietrope -> supercharger on stock mustang opinion (5/8/2008 2:43:39 PM)

I recently acquired a bone stock 1992 Mustang 5.0 Special Edition in great shape. 50,000 miles, original top, paint, etc even the stock converters, mufflers, and air silencer in the air intake.
This is a rare care and in rare stock condition. But I have always wanted a supercharged car. Not for racing but to have, hear, and sometimes get my foot into.
It has a 5 speed and 2:73 rear. Again, not for racing but to hear it whine and have a supercharged car.
What would be the best brand for my needs and is there one that's reliable and reasonably priced ?
Would I need to do anything else to the car ? If it means larger injectors, fuel pump, etc, I think I'll pass.
Thanks for your input.

then you should probably pass but i believe some kits come with all that is needed for it to be installed, including the items that you listed.

You'll need a larger fuel pump at a minimum.  Injectors are sorta a option if you decide to use the FMU, though injectors would be a much more reliable option.  You could go with a Vortech V1 S-trim.  They are a awesome blower, come with a 3 year warranty, quick and painless to install, and believe it or not, the cheapest on the market.

summit sells a paxton novi kit..that gives you everything you need for installation..i believe it cost like 2400

If you want the whine like a 03-04 cobra or a gt500 your going to need a kenny bell blower, the vortech v-1 s trim is loud at idle but once you start going you can't hear it. I have one on my car and it sounds amazing at idle (vetts won't **** with me if were at a light waiting) but once your going it goes away. That whine that i think you want is from the twin screw or roots type design supercharger. The only people that i know that make one for the 5.0 is kenny bell. It would be wise to get a fuel pump 24lbs injectors if you want under 350 hp 36lbs for 450 and 42's if you want to go to like 600 but the block wont hold up then. Fuel pump and FMU at the least.

^^totally agree, ive road in a kenny bell 5.0 and that whine is awsome, in fact my next motor is gonna be a built 5.0 with the kenny bell blower. And compared to other systems on the market, the cost is very fair.

KB's on the 5.0 isnt as loud as the 4.6's
2.73 rear gears, spend the extra money and turbo it :)
you get the spooling sound and blow off valve sound, its awsome!
3.55's or 3.73's if you plan to supercharge.
injectors, fuel pump, and some other things will be needed, among a tune to get boost it.
dont let the injectors and fuel pump scare you, they are easy to change.

this thread makes me LOL [sm=icon_rofl.gif]

the OP wants a supercharger, but is too much of a bitch to swap out a fuel pump... and injectors!!!

HAHAHAHA

yeah they aint as loud but there still mad fast. me im a turbo guy, but after a ride in a kb 5.0, i want one. plus turbo systems can be more complicated to a begginer (if thats the case).
