I went to the local 1/8th last night. I am still trapped in 2.X 60 foot hell..... anyone here launch on Mickey Thompson Et streets (not radial) want to give me some advice? Car has suspension (adjustable Qa1's with springs, tq arm, subframe connectors etc) but i still need to buy aftermarket control arms ... i have tried everything as far as launching goes, its eiether bog or smoke them off the line.. low 4k's i bog, high 4k's i spin.

1/8th mile track (50 ish degrees)

in car (you can hear it bog out)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ecgEJiypY0

outside (you can see the nose come up and then drop again on the launch)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2MWgT2PJm8

1/4th mile (85 degrees  25-30 mph head wind )

this is 2 weeks ago at the 1/4th mile ( i spin here, as well as spin 1-2 shift)

If the tires are heated up you should be sticking bro. I can't watch the videos at work so I cant tell....is it a nice track or a back woods POS road? Could it be the track prep? Cold track?

6 speeds can be a bastard to launch though. I had a hell of a time getting my 60ft under 2.0.

yea make sure you remove all water from the tires and starting lines, also adjust your tire pressure. I have MT et streets on 17" rims, i've only made a couple of runs with them at the track and at 15psi and a 4.5k drop it launches like a bat out of hell(very ****ty track BTW).

Welcome to the world of the junk T56 and it's piss poor 1st gear ratio. What will help is lower control arms and relocation brackets. The relocation brackets will help with instant center and should keep the tires planted. What's happening is the car is sticking but it can't keep the tires planted after the initial hit, that's when the front end comes down and the rear tires unload. Also try removing the front sway bar (if you have not done it aready). When I was running a M6 I would slip the clutch really hard at 4500 rpm, this would help keep the tires planted, I was getting 1.8's on a 17 inch BFG dr, I did have lower control arms at the time.

lower control arms are on my list for my next pay check... any advice on a brand?

this is my current setup

-Qa1 adjustable front and rear shocks and springs
-BMR torque arm
-BMR panhard bar
-BMR weld in subframe connectors
I also have the Moser 9 inch rear end to handle the power.

So LCA's should help me out a lot?

I s the car lower than stock? If so you REALLY need the control relocation brackets. The geometry gets all messed up whena car is lowered. Even if it is still at stock height they will help though.

I agree with what JD said.
Its not so much that the T56 is junk, but its just got a really short first gear.
And JT, if you bog at 4k and spin at 5k.....launch at 4500?

Why would a short 1st gear be messing up his launch? Seems to me like a short first gear is going to be more 'torqy' (yes, i just used that word) and allow him to launch harder.

Looks like youre still in my world Jim. 2.0X 60's sound nice, until you tell people that you're running a MT DR with a rwd car

My best on MT ET Street Radials is 2.02, and who knows if I can get it lower. We both fail.

T56s(at least GM spec ones) have a long 1st gear.

Just launch it high.  I'd try just around 5000 but give it a little bit of slip, don't just dump it.

You don't have any suspension mods at all, do you?  That's why you fail.

V-6 is for real drivers. Go buy a Jetta if you want gas mileage and a chicks car. Buy a V-8 Mustang if you have no driving ability and need the extra horsepower to compensate and feel like you're fast.

The GM T56 has a very long (low numeric) 1st gear ratio, this is what makes it hard to 60 foot well with them. Also IMO the T56 is pretty weak, the syncos and blocker rings go out in them pretty often, particularly 3rd gear. You really need to abuse the clutch in order to get a decent 60' with a T56 car.

I have a few slips with 1.96, 1.97 60's from my '99 Z28.  But I rode the clutch damn near to the 60 ft mark.  Then it slipped really bad until I let it sit for about 2 hours.    Good times with T56 cars.

that's what made me say it had a short gear, he must have mistyped.

even w/o suspension mods, I would imagine 4.10's and MT's should enable me to run some 1.8 60's..

I dont expect to be launching and pulling the wheels, just not spining....
