Hey guys, I'm looking into a full exhaust set on my '99 V6 Convertable. I was all set to order MAC Shorty's and a Pypes full exhaust kit (catted X-pipe, true duals, turn-downs) until I read on another post here that shorty headers offer no performance gain! Is this true?! So I went back to check out the MAC longtubes, and it says that they cannot be used with the convertables. So am I just stuck with these apparently crappy shorty's, or is there anything else I can do? If it matters, I have UPR Subframe connectors with the seat support welded in. I assume it has to do with some sort of clearance issue. Also, when I'm ordering the headers, whether it's shorty's or LT's, it asks whether I have air injection. I don't think '99's had AI, but I'm not sure. If it varies, is there an easy way to tell? Thanks in advance for any help!

You can get LT's to fit with a vert, their is a thread over at 3.8 about it right now...

And exhaust is mostly opinion, but pypes sounds horrible.

LTs can be put on verts you just need to drop the front sub frame support to get them in,

i have em on mine and with the top down when you get on it to get on the highway it sounds awesome!

If Pypes sound horrible, what is my best bet? Does anyone sell a true dual kit with flowmastersand catted X-pipe? Or should I just by an x-pipe and set of flowmasters, and have an exhaust shop do the rest?

And how hard is it to drop the subframe? can I put the car on jackstands then use a jack to support the subframe when I unbolt it?
I'm so anxious to get dual exhaust on there, but I know I should do my homework first! I've already wasted money on a K&N intake that I can't use with my 73mm MAF housing (while I'm asking about stuff, does anyone know if someone makes a 4-bolt flange (stock style) MAF housing that would work with the K&N?)

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it a lot!

its a cheezy bolt on brace, 3 10mm bolts hold it in place on each side, 4 of the bolts broke off on me, so i just welded the thing back into place

The motor bolts to the K-member. The subframes bolt to the underside of your car.
