EcoBoost V6!

07 Stang -> EcoBoost V6! (5/8/2008 11:46:25 AM)

I was reading Motor Trend today and it said the Mustang EcoBoost V6 has been approved by Ford. It will have a direct injection, turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 that will produce more horsepower than the current 4.6 Mustang GTs. On top of that, it may get 2 mpg better. It said to expect this to follow the facelift in 2010. So maybe 2011?? I want one now! [:D]

What about a GT/V8.. they'll probably keep making GT mustangs though because all the law says is that the manufacturer has to make a certain amount of cars that use less fuel.

Black Mamba GTT -> RE: EcoBoost V6! (5/8/2008 2:53:12 PM)

That v6 will probably be the new GT

Who knows, they might keep a few GT's around boasting more power, but not as much as the GT500. I do know the new G8 GXP that Pontiac is coming out with is a serious threat to the GT. It will have 402 hp....does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds for under $40K. Ford has to "anti-up!"

 Pontiac G8=Holden Monaro (or Commadore) Ford just has to bring over the Falcon. Problem solved.

My Dad had a dark green 1965 Falcon. It was a pretty cool car, but kind of small for a family of four at the time. He took us all down in Mexico with it. I remember when he locked the keys in the trunk and couldn't speak Spanish! [:D]

I can only imagine what goodies will  pop up on the aftermarket for the eco boost V-6. It might not be a V-8, there's some serious potential for a built TT V-6. Just imagine the looks on the faces of those guys who end up getting smoked and realize that it was a V-6 that did them in.

It's the same right now when the current v6 smokes 'em. [:)]

That is all fine and dandy. [8|] But will it still sound as good as a 4.6 V8. [:-] fd

myredgt -> RE: EcoBoost V6! (5/8/2008 8:19:16 PM)

I just thought of something, and haven't really looked into it to be honest, but how much torque will the ecoboost have? It may have 340 hp, but I fin dit a stretch to also have 320+ lbs of torque, I could be wrong however. [:)]

Anyone know?

Nope, according to this, Ford will keep high performance engines;

Ford had renamed its new Gasoline Direct Injection Turbocharged 3.5 V6 to EcoBoost. The change from the previous name "TwinForce" was made because the marketing team did not want to lead customers on that this is only a "Performance" type engine. They want to stress that this new engine will be able to get better MPG along with the performance of a V8.
