I was reading Motor Trend today and it said the Mustang EcoBoost V6 has been approved by Ford. It will had a direct injection, turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 that will produce more horsepower than the current 4.6 Mustang GTs. On top of that, it may get 2 mpg better. It said to expect this to follow the facelift in 2010. So maybe 2011??

it's gonna be one of the first cars with it. i think the fusion will be the very first. my only concern is that ppl will ignore them. eventually the twincharged one will prob take the V8 spot. personally i'd take one.

It is rumored they are making a new body for the Taurus, one much more sleek and appealing, and will use the Ecoboost with 350+ hp and torque for a new SHO as a 2010 model.

Here is a site, and the concept pic looks pretty cool:

the 6.2 is just speculation. hopefully not true, especially since the said engine is truck only.

I am sure they will come out with that engine.
But I really don't expect to find it in a Mustang.
Too much fear of turbos and non-V8 engines among the traditionalists.

I'd be more convinced if
a) Ford made a direct announcement to the public
b) All the magazine stories would line up

I'd buy any other ford car with a TT 6 right away (ie: an SHO) but I see myself debating over the Mustang. Too much of a traditionalist I suppose.

I love random speculation. Automotive magazines have lost all journalistic integrity. They will post anything so that they can come back later and say they were the first to break the news on the off chance that it turns out to be true.

Such fun speculation, i fear people will read all about it and get their hopes up. I would want to hear more evidence to support that this really is happening. A turboed v6? Sweet sweet ride.
