thats pretty cool! is it going to be hidden behind that panel that folds down? cuz that would be awsome!

BA Mustang -> RE: Push Button (pics) (5/8/2008 1:25:39 PM)

Yes, the panel that fold up is going to hide it. I will start the car and then push that up.

Here are more pics of the Toggle Switch that I installed.

Over all Costs:

Push Button : $5
Wires: Free
Toggle switch with cover: $6

and about 3 to 4 hours of labor.

Togge switch is used to cut off the power to the push button. The way I wired it the push button had power all the time.

Waffles -> RE: Push Button (pics) (5/8/2008 1:28:56 PM)

so does your key have to be turned to push button start it? or can anyone sit in hit the toggle, hit the switch, and vroom drive away?

BA Mustang -> RE: Push Button (pics) (5/8/2008 1:36:42 PM)

We think the key. I can start the car, turn off the toggle and it still runs. We tried last night and it cranked with no key. But you have to have the key to turn it off.

Ok I went outside and tried this. It will only crank without the key. It will not actaully start unless the key in the accessory spot.

LCC -> RE: Push Button (pics) (5/8/2008 3:54:44 PM)

That's because the key gives power to the coil and gages and anything else that turns on/off with the key...

Redundant starter switch.
I remember the days of those ideas of toggles and lights all racer looking in my younger years.

So far the kid with the lil Honda I saw with a key pad and a key an a push button all to start the car gets the over do a idea award.
This guy is just doing his thing to his ride. We all like put our own touches on our cars.

Some times the K.I.S.S. rule of thumb goes out the window lol

rst08tierney -> RE: Push Button (pics) (5/10/2008 10:20:09 AM)

its fine and dandy untill someonce pulls out your toggle switch and arc's the wires and your cars gone. I would rethink where you place that switch becuase its in a very common place

How many holes did you need to drill for the final product?
