Lost some power at the Track

sidmanic -> Lost some power at the Track (5/8/2008 9:48:27 AM)

Went to "The Strip" last night after not going for about 6 month. Did 4 runs (could have done more) and won all my races but the competition was a bit weak except for one.
The car was Very consistant even though I was running about .4-.5 slower than what she normally does and about 5mph less. Losing some power somewhere.

First run was against a RX7: .4 Pro Tree
He ran 15.008 at 102 with a 2.737 60' .147 rt
I ran 12.782 at 107 with a 1.749 60' .287
Had him beat at the 60' mark.
Realized I still had my street tune in so I swapped the tune.

2nd run was against a different RX7: .4 Full Tree
He ran 16.121 at 88 with a 2.551 60' .254 rt
I ran 12.560 at 108 with a 1.730 60' .147 rt
I figure I picked up almost 30hp by switching tunes.

3rd run was against a newer Ford 350 Turbo Diesel (I never trust these guys, you never know what they've done to the truck): .4 Full Tree
This was the funnest and closest run of the night.
He ran 13.023 at 106 with a 1.939 60' .063 rt
I ran 12.701 at 107 with a 1.751 60' .134 rt
He caught me by a couple hundreths at the light but I was in front at the 60' and we just stayed there the rest of the way down the track.
At least this run was a challenge.

Last run was against a work truck (yep): .4 Full Tree
I'll post these anyways.
He ran 18.857 at 76 with a 2.919 60' .456 rt
I ran 12.712 at 107 with a 1.795 60' .342 rt
I tried a little different launch on this one (1500rpm instead of my usual 2600rpm) to see what the effect was. Wasn't much different. Rt seemed to suffer a little bit.

All in all a fun night. Just not sure why I was running so much slower than usual.

I don't want to sound stupid, but how long did you wait in between runs? Are you icing the I/C tank or the blower?

sidmanic -> RE: Lost some power at the Track (5/8/2008 11:08:21 AM)

The first two runs I did back to back. I wanted to see how much difference there was between tunes.
There was no waiting in line. Just drive right up and go.
Cooled it for about 45 min. Ran the last two back to back. Watched a while longer and went home. Pretty dead. Not that many cars.
Saw a twin turb sn95 run a 7.78 at over 200. Thing wasn't fast out of the hole but DAMN did it take off.
Your sig kills me...lol.

ur traps are way too low and i agree u could do way better than that. I mean u are cutting a great 60" so u must be losing power somehow. Cuz u are in LS1 or LS2 stock trap range wise.

I wasn't expecting to break any records but I wasn't expecting it to go slower. Only thing I did recent was change the whole axle, put in the same gears though.
The 60's were pretty good for public night so it did have me a little baffled.
I didn't take the spare out and some other stuff in the trunk. I had over half a tank of 100 oct in. Still that might be a 100lbs, might lose a tenth or two.
Got some bracket racing next week, might take it out and do some data logging to see comes up.

sidmanic -> RE: Lost some power at the Track (5/8/2008 11:56:47 AM)

When I changed the axle, I never had the pinion angle checked. I doubt if that would effect my ET's but it might effect my 60's, but they looked ok. Huh....

i doubt something is wrong with them since u are cutting as very good sixty. check the all the intercooler pipes and make sure everything is very tight.

I will check the IC. I'm getting a little lazy on my pre-flights these days.
