i was lookin into a shorty antenna but just cutting it myself seems pretty easy n cheap so should i do it?

Never heard of that. But i really wana kno if it is possible.

It's a great freemod and it shouldn't effect the radio reception much, if at all.

the shorties are so cheap though and then you get the nice finished look :D

Do it yourself, it's free and easy to do... and you won't even notice the reception lost (if any at all).
There is a tutorial at Mustang World .com and it has before and after pictures for comparison.

I shortened mine and repainted it black, it looks good, cut it to match the height of the roof. I have satellite so I rarely use radio, but when i do it comes in just as ****ty as terestrial radio usually does, no change at all from stock.

It takes about 5 minutes to do, and it helps to have a grinder.

MP3 cd's ftw. I took my audio equiptment out when I did the vortech and haven't put it back in yet.... whine and exhaust seems to be all I need for now.

Cut it to whatever length you want with a hack saw or air cutter. Use a fine tooth file to round off the end. Then dab a little Krylon on with a paper towel. Looks perfect, works the same as before.

If you put the antenna in a vise, you can use a claw hammer to remove the ball and then super glue it to the new tip that was rounded off. It'll look a lot better than just a stick.

+1 MP3 CDS FTW!! You can put roughly 20 songs on an audio (wav) disc, or almost 200 songs (depending on encoding/song length) per disc. No comparision, MP3 decks are real cheap now. Some will say it's not as "CLEAR" as WAVE, but if encoded right, you can't tell the difference.

i would keep your antenna long in case you lock your keys in your car, i use my antenna quite often to break into my car :)

Yup, same here.The antenna on the 97 v6 was shaved years ago and I'm planning ondoing it againon the DD98 GT.

I used some bolt cutters and never put the ball back on and it still works good:D

i got one off ebay for 20$ its a gunmetal finish it looks really good.... all of that sounds good too if your into that kind of effort for an antenna

Just unscrew it. Reception suffered a little bit, but if the radio stations up there are anything like they are in DC then all your missing are the same 10 songs on repeat. Radio FTL
