Straight talk eh?

This man is flip-flopping all over the place.

McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but has since decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. (Indeed, McCain has now hired Falwell’s debate coach.)
* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.
* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.
* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June, he abandoned his own legislation.
* McCain used to think that Grover Norquist was a crook and a corrupt shill for dictators. Then McCain got serious about running for president and began to reconcile with Norquist.
* McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.
* McCain gave up on his signature policy issue, campaign-finance reform, and won’t back the same provision he sponsored just a couple of years ago.
* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.
* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.
* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.
* And now he’s both for and against overturning Roe v. Wade.

Lord Ashram -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/8/2008 4:16:28 AM)

While I do like McCain, and would be equally happy with him as president as anyone else in the race, he does seem to have wandered away a little bit from "The Straight Talk Express."  Of course, some of it you simply have to do to get elected, so I excuse him of that much... of course, he DOESN'T have three Muslim names, so maybe he isn't so bad?

jakecat22 -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/8/2008 4:26:27 AM)

find me one candidate that does not flip flop on issues and you get a cookie. They all do it, they will all continue to do it.

Today's politicians are all like that, they say what they can at the time to appease the people they are talking to. If that is going to stop you from voting for a candidate, then you won't be voting. You have to look past all this political BS, all the stupid agenda driven stories in the media, and do some real research on your own to find the candidates positions, and find the one that MOST represents your views and political thinking.

This is not an excuse for the fact that John McCain has flip-flopped on pretty much every political view he had in the past 4 yrs. It shows how indecisive he will be as commander in chief and is yet another reason why I will not vote for him.

Well, you've really convinced me to vote for Obama or Hillary because they never flip-flop about anything, wait, wait, nope, sorry. You sound like you've been brain washed by the liberal scum. You're to far gone. My condolences to you and your family.

72MachOne99GT -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/8/2008 10:16:43 PM)

Ugh, quit with the bashing and what not.

There has never, and will never be a 'perfect' candidate at ANY level of politics.

All you can do is find the person who is most 'inline' with your ideas and vote for them. Too many people take politics personally.

I'm in NO WAY saying that it is not important, millions of people have died world wide to achieve what we take for granted, but theres certainly no need to get all up in arms any time a discrepancy occurs.

FWIW I dislike McCain, but there is next to nothing that a democratic candidate has proposed that remotely interests me.

mikemc04gt -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 1:15:05 AM)

McCain will get my vote simply by default.

AvidMustang -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 7:29:41 AM)

That issue is about the only thing with McCain that I don't worry about.

redass02gt -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 9:35:48 AM)

come on, he's ****ing old, he probably forgets his wife's name all the time.  that's what worries me about the guy...  he falls asleep in congress for christ sakes.  I wouldn't hire his old ass for a normal job because I don't think he's fit to do anything but sit at home and nap, let alone to do one of the toughest jobs in the world.

and hooray for stupid propaganda sound bites.

03_gt_woowee -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 9:45:31 AM)

i will vote for john mccain

72MachOne99GT -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 9:48:40 AM)

I'm voting for him, but I like to make it clear to other people that it's only because Romney got beaten in the primaries.

Everyone was bitching and complaining about the economy. So you nominate a senator instead of a governer? Particularly a governer that helped turn his own states economy around a bit?

Republicans are stupid. But so are democrats. [:)]

redass02gt -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 10:30:44 AM)

probably because romney was an unelectable super religious moron who couldn't stop pretending he was Ronald Reagan.

+1, i think he will run in 2012 and probably secure the nomination for the republican party. he wasn't so bad except for his war stance, me id vote for him over McCain. I think people will be a little more open to the fact he is Mormon. It well also depend on how this LDS compound thing works out. i wonder if he had a heads up on the raid and dropped out because he would have had a catastrophic amount of attention from that. I know that had a "call" but they had been wanting to raid that compound for years, esp to go after Warren Jeffs. they busted his ass on a routine traffic stop[&:] apperantely hes an idiot, maybe from the inbreeding???[8D]

I also wonder how much this is gonna cost us, I imagine a few hundred million dollars[:@] they will be quite a few civil libertes violation cases

this year should be the year of a super strong 3rd party candidate but so far no one has stepped up. if someone with some sense ran they could do extremely well this year. they could anilate the Dem/Rep party.

i want jessie ventura for pres and ron paul for VP for the ticket

Burnsy -> RE: John McCain vs. John McCain (5/9/2008 1:35:40 PM)

I love George W. Bush. Probably one of the worst "politicians" there is, but in my book, a great President.

Who likes a politician anyway? All they are is liars and ****ters. The best of these is undoubtedly Bill Clinton, Hillary is pretty good at it, and Obama is fabulous and talking about nothing that has to do with issues. I always laugh when people talk about how much charisma he has.

One of those statements is a fact, and one is a lie. See if you can tell which is which.
