Default mustang vs trans am

i have a 2006 mustang gt manual with longtube jba headers, offroad midpipe (eliminates cats), kn intake, and magnaflow exhaust. my friend with a 2002 ws6 stock convertible automatic trans am wants to race me. of course i am going to do it but what does everyone think the result will be cuz those cars r pretty quick. has anyone with a new gt raced one of them before??

Thats a tough one because you guys are sitting pretty close on power levels. They have what like 330rwhp stock? With your bolt ons you should be around 300rwhp. Who tuned your car as well that is whats going to play the biggest part in the race in your tune.

I give this one to driver experience

drivers race IMO - the fact that he's a vert helps you. iirc they are 330 bhp

you get a good launch and that'll be 1/2 the battle

A stock WS6 is putting down like 295-305rwhp, depending on the dyno and other factors. If you can drive you should win. You have a 12 second car if you hook and drive, and with his auto and vert, he is probably a mid 13 second car.

Should be a good race, give it a shot see what happens, I'd give it to the '06 GT

Hrrmmm.. methinks this will be a close one. An 06 GT with headers, mids and exhaust vs an LS1 WS6 with an auto is gonna be down to the drivers. Cause if he's got stock gears on the WS6 that'll hurt him a little bit, but the auto is going to help on the launch cause that'll fairly well eliminate any driver-mod flubs on the launch. I would say your best chance would probably be from a 35-40 roll, which is usually a sweet spot for stock-ish GT's in 2nd gear. Though one screw up and the WS6'll have ya..

This is what you call, hitting the nail on the head. Just practice before you go out and race him...

If there was tune involved I would be leaning to the GT here, but I don't see one, I think it's going to be a drivers race IMHO... but I've seen enough 01+ Autoscrack 13.0~13.2s @ 106~107mph to know they can be evil even with the 4L60E pushing.

im a GM fanboy for sure but i think this is a drivers race with a ever so slight edge for u, just dont screw the launch at all, because anyedge for either of u is gonna spell doom for the other
