So how does grundy work?

sethalot -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/7/2008 10:51:57 PM)

depends on how old you are and how much you want to drive your car, when i was looking for insurance for my 69' i wasnt eligible for any of the classic car insurance plans, most of them have an age requirement of 25+ years old and most of them dont want you to drive the car over 3000 miles per year, after reading a bit they dont limit your mileage now but they did when i was looking

xian67 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/7/2008 10:55:01 PM)

Yeah its my daily drive and im 17 =/

similar situation turning 18 in july i dont drive the car daily its just for cruising but i do that as often as i can i love my car and believe these cars were meant to be driven not trailered or hidden away in some air tight garage

xian67 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/7/2008 11:05:31 PM)

Is there any insureance that will cover me?

66JameStang -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/7/2008 11:37:27 PM)

Whats the fun of it if you don't drive the sucker![:@]3000 miles my ARSE!!! Hate the trailer queens, mustangs are for driving not riding on trailers!![:@][:@][:@] (ANGRY TYPING GUY!!) Well I don't really know much about classic insurrance but what I was gonna do is have my car appraised and then get coverage under the appraisel value? I am not quite done though...[:D] but when are you ever done?

rmodel65 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/7/2008 11:42:18 PM)

probablky not being 16 they might cover yoour mom or dad as primary but i doubt they will be able to list you as a driver. im in the same boat as you i just turned 25 i will be able to get some classic insurance this year hopefully. i got a quote from hagerty it was 25k guarnteed for 299$ a yr i think it was

xian67 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 7:33:21 AM)

Man this is lame =/.
All the companies either say no one under 25 can drive it or that it can only be driven to shows and pleasure driving on weekends [:(]

Nick.Simonds -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 7:38:01 AM)

I think someone said Geico and some others insure old cars. Probably not nearly as cheap and the antique insurances but, eh.

SJs 66coupe -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 9:03:54 AM)

When I bought the  Stang I started by calling my normal  insurance agent.

Insured the Stang with Safeco and it only cost  about an extra $200 / year.  Having it on the same policy as my other cars and with the same insurance company as my homeowners really helped.

On the one policy we have my '07 Explorer, the wife's PT Cruiser GT and the Stang.  BTW, they realize I only drive it on weekends and maybe to work once in a while on Friday but I don't know if that was a "requirement" of the policy or not.

sethalot -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 11:24:49 AM)

i have mine insured through progressive and even with it being insured along with my other vehicles its well over 200 a month besides what i already pay for the others

65rangoon -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 12:15:24 PM)

im only 23 and Hagerty still gave me an online quote.   I havent gone through and finalized any of it yet so i dont know if id be accepted or not.

Guy im good friends with back home has a completely custom hot rod and State Farm was the only local kind of agent that would cover it.

Nick.Simonds -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 12:20:33 PM)

I was quoted with hargery and Im 19, theyre quote program just doesnt have the "if then" set up right. When you actually try and get the policy they will reject you.

quesey -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 12:37:04 PM)

i,m with shelter and covered @30,000 value it's like $32 a month but i've been with them for over 15 years.helps to know your insurance guy i'd guess he said drive it as much as i wanted

xian67 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 2:57:05 PM)

My dads thinking of selling it =/
He said what if they steal it. He said If were insurenced by a normal company (allstate, AAA, etc etc) that they wont give us as much money as the car is worth.

racin66coupe -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 2:59:33 PM)

xian67 -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/8/2008 10:45:15 PM)

i hope we find something that will insure me.
i really dont want to sell my first car.

66StangNV -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/9/2008 8:44:47 AM)

I'm 23, have 3 cars insured with AAA (including my '66) $743/yr for the Mustang, but I probably won't get what it's worth unfortunately.

65mustangcoupe -> RE: http://www.grundy.com/ (5/10/2008 6:10:21 AM)

Does anyone know of a classic car insurance plan that does agreed value (so you're given what you agree the car is worth) and does NOT require it be garage kept? I spent a few hours doing this yesterday and I found fair rates and companies that dont have mileage limitations however every single company required it be garage kept.  No garage so I'm in between a rock and a hard spot.  Any luck out there?
