Input and opinions please!!!!![>:] 06Saleen3V 05-08-2008, 03:29 AM SOOOOOO not worth it...your car is sick bro sowaxeman 05-08-2008, 07:38 AM Uh oh, time for somebody to exit stage left to the Shelby Section;) Hell no it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, unfortunately your car has some serious depreciation involved and you will probably not find a Shelby (new or used) for sticker or below [:o] Why loose money on the sale/trade of a Saleen and then WASTE money on the purchase of a Shelby (not that Shelby's are a waste). I assume you car is a DD....my point is why spend OVER sticker price for a car that will be driven all the time [&:] If your question is, will anybody trade you straight up - I highly doubt it. Shelby's stickered for $45k and sold for $60K and up. Nobody is selling even used Shelby's that I have seen for under the sticker price. unclemilti 05-08-2008, 10:21 AM +1 ^ These Saleens don't have "collectible" value anymore- theres simply too many of them, and too many other "limited production" Mustangs out there to choose from. You would lose your butt. Check Ebay- you can get a brand new leftover 07 S/C car with just about everything for 48K right now. Some 08's I have seen going on there for 52-54K loaded with S/C- cars that sticker for 65K. Dealers are givingthe Saleensaway right now, which means resale and trade values are in the dump.. cobraT 05-08-2008, 10:40 AM Do NOT!!!!!! surrender to the $helby hype!!!!!! In the old days I was a Shelby guy. But Barrett Jacksonand company has taken him into the $tratosphere. I too wanted a GT500, and had the opportunity to get one at sticker and passed one it before the hype hit the fan.The Saleen allready in the garage is the better plan. The Saleen style is much better LOOKING any ways. IMHO Saleen326 05-08-2008, 11:10 AM Definitely not worth it. I would rather have the Saleen over a Shelby anyday. Saleen05797 05-08-2008, 02:28 PM The only thing the GT500 is good for is the engine, IMO cbgammel05 05-08-2008, 04:56 PM That makes me feel a lot better guys....I actually got in my car this morning...cranked it up...and all doubt went out my mind... I LOVE MY CAR :) *pets car* "im so sorry...ill never say mean things again" Say When 05-08-2008, 07:22 PM Glad you came to your senses. If you don't care about becoming lost among all of the other million 05+ Mustangs go get the GT500. I will tell you though I drove a GT500 with the Whipple on it last week and all I can say was it reminded me of the new ZO6 in straight line acceleration.[:-] StangKing 05-08-2008, 07:28 PM DONT DO IT!!!!:D elburrito99 05-08-2008, 08:19 PM ORIGINAL: Say When Glad you came to your senses. I wonder if the Saleens could get the same type of pull off the line with gears, more aggressive cams, and a tune to go along (which, as I type that out, is what I guess the E cars have). Which reminds me, Marcus -- when are you going to give us some info on how to permanently disengage the Spanish Oak throttle adjustment so we don't have to keep doing the throttle reset procedure???!!! I want hair trigger throttle response, and I want it NOW.:D Jazzer The Cat 05-08-2008, 08:34 PM ^ DUDE! Looks like the "King" is droolin' over yourride [8D] The Jaz SBKRider 05-09-2008, 08:05 AM No way you guys are biased. Getting an objective opinion on this board is as likely as David Duke joining the Obama bandwagon. The Shelby is WAY too fast and the brakes are way too good and the interior is way too nice. You would not like it at all. [8D] In all seriousness, I have nightmares about how this car handled in stock form. Once you do the suspension, and get a few proper engine mods (pulley, CAI, Abacks, Tune), theres not much on the road that can touch it. The SC cars from Saleen are no match. E's certainly can do the damn thing though. The guys with the Wipples and KB's win but the $ is a lot out of pocket. That being said, as soon as I can sell mine, I am getting a slow ass M3. sowaxeman 05-09-2008, 09:43 AM I certainly wasn't trying to be bias'd in my answer.....just stating the simple fact that nobody would trade him straight up....that it would be a major loss/waste of money for a DD car. I know you were/are reasonable. I am bs'n anyway. Just fueling the Shelby vs Saleen thing...My favorite topic. Say When 05-09-2008, 02:16 PM Lol. Yea. Exactly the reason why I worded my response the way I did. There is no denying that in the looks dept. more people will choose the Saleen over a GT500. Someone can start a poll if they would like. As far as the motor goes.... just likeI said. A GT500 with the right blower set up and look out anything and everything even S281E. Just apples and oranges. 06Saleen3V 05-09-2008, 02:17 PM ORIGINAL: SBKRider In all seriousness, I have nightmares about how this car handled in stock form. E's certainly can do the damn thing though. Very, very true. With about 5K, the GT500's can handle, brake, and pull like no other which is a nice thing. Why are you trading in for the M3?! That is the dark side ya know? :D 05Saleen#243 05-09-2008, 02:25 PM ORIGINAL: 06Saleen3V ORIGINAL: SBKRider In all seriousness, I have nightmares about how this car handled in stock form. All due respect, calling that car a beast is insulting to the C63 AMG which takes the cake in the beast dept. 0-60 in 3.9sec. It won't turn but its a ****ing monster! The 08 M3 is a very special, very amazing piece of machinery. Its not faster than its competietion until the roads get curvy. I love that aspect of it. Plus bangin shifts at 8300rpm is enough fo rme to purchase anyway. Saleen05797 05-09-2008, 03:49 PM I love the M3's and any AMG Mercedes. I keep telling people that some point in time I will own some kind of blackC-series AMG, drop some cash in it for go fast, lowered, black rims, black mesh grill, and tint. Would look and be sick IMO, and it hasn't really been done SBKRider 05-09-2008, 03:54 PM I know a little about 6.3AMG's... In this trim its 507hp 7speed Brutal power and the most beastly roar you will ever hear. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/SBKRider/ShelbyandAMG.jpg 05Saleen#243 05-09-2008, 04:44 PM you don't know anything about brutal power unless you've been in an SL65 or a K-8 SBKRider 05-09-2008, 04:48 PM ORIGINAL: 05Saleen#243 you don't know anything about brutal power unless you've been in an SL65 or a K-8 My shelby has more at the crank than an SL65 05Saleen#243 05-09-2008, 04:49 PM ORIGINAL: Saleen05797 I love the M3's and any AMG Mercedes. It's one of the sickest cars I've seen. Saleen05797 05-09-2008, 06:26 PM Ah I just looked it up, it looks sickkk! That's exactly how I want to do mine if I ever get one but probably a mesh grille and tinted tails 05Saleen#243 05-09-2008, 07:04 PM ORIGINAL: SBKRider ORIGINAL: 05Saleen#243 you don't know anything about brutal power unless you've been in an SL65 or a K-8 My shelby has more at the crank than an SL65 ummm.....you have more than 604? nm...just read your sig. however I think its got you in the torque category wolfie 05-10-2008, 12:37 AM I don't understand where the "In a tight spot...thinking about trading" comes into this. cbgammel05 05-10-2008, 04:49 PM stfu n00b ^^^ read the first part of the post! hehehe jk [8D] SBKRider 05-10-2008, 07:58 PM Well, tight spot or not, take the wheels with you. Dem ****z are just right ;) eolson 05-11-2008, 10:32 AM I had the JDM/Saleen E-car tune and kit on my Mustang GT for a while, I went down to the 12lb 550 tune for now. On the E-kit it pulled 507rwhp(585 crank) and ran great. You guys must be on Drag Radials on the street, because the break loose in 1st and 2nd is constant, but 3rd and 4th gear were really amazing with my 3600 lb car. A Shelby GT500 @ about 550rwhp would be the same speed at when you add the weight difference. I smoked a few stocker GT500's here in Northville, but I love the look of the Shelby GT500 with the King Cobra hood. This forum is obviously bias, but the KR at the Detroit show was beautiful. Erik |
