I like to think that Johnny cash is no different then Punk rock. Both usually play 3 chord songs. Both structure their songs very very simple. Both are "rebels". Both sing of the simple things in life in a clear message. Both tend to touch on the darker or sadder parts of life. The only major difference I see is the Acoustic guitar from johnny and of course, tempo
discuss.

well.. real punk anyways died in the 80s. real punk is not Greenday and blink182. Its iggy pop , sex pistols , monks, The Velvet Underground , black flag.
all that greenday , simpleplan BS is middle school skater pop punk.
Johnny Cash – Gobbled pills by the handful, kicked out the footlights at the Grand Ol’ Opry – and was told to never come back - and generally wrecked a wide swath of havoc wherever he went. In his pre-June Carter days the Man In Black was as scary and unpredictable as Sid Vicious on a bender.

Just for making that statement, the original "Man in Black" is clawing his way out of the grave to come kick your butt for comparing him to those limp wristed wanna-be's. On a sober day, Cash made Sid Vicious look like a school girl.

johnny cash didn't do it to be cool and he did it like 20 years earlier. if you're going to exert so much energy thinking about something, next time make sure it actually has some sort of impact on...well anything.
