I installed a frontrunner serpentine system from Vintage on my 66 and have to use an electric fuel pump.  I bought a Holley Blue and it is loud as hell, even back next to the fuel tank with Dynamat extreme throughout the car, it is still quite noticable until I start the car.  My problem is that the pump puts out so much more pressure that I get little leaks where the filter is etc. (and the c-clamps are on there pretty tight - almost to the point where the rubber is coming through the slits).  Should I locate the regulator in the back - now I have it right in front of the carb?  Should I run another line that I "T" back by the pump and run a return line to the tank to take the pressure off?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

nothing can quiet those things up...i've used a red one with no problems...dont know about the blue ones.

Maverick, do you run a return line or have you experienced any issues from having excess pressure?

Do you have a carb system?
My Holley blue came with a regulator to get the pressure down to 4-5 psi. The blue is spec'd out at 14psi I believe.
Yes mine is loud too and I am considering going back to mechanical until I get my '86 302 ready to drop in.

I'm running the Holley blue. I quieted it down by mounting it on a rubber insulating pad. If your not used to it, it will still be noisy. I don't mind it myself since I only hear it inbetween turning the key on and starting the car. Before I was able to get the fuel psi regulated, it was definately blowing past my needle seats in the carb. You have to have a regulator for carbed applications. Also, invest in a liquid filled psi gauge.

Most high pressure pumps require a bypass to survive.  I am not sure about the Holley, but Barry Grant pumps use a bypass return either at the pump or after the regulator.  A return line may help with the sound.

The blue came with a regulator so I should be good here and I screwed a liquid gauge in the open fitting on the regulator.  My concern is that I am putting too much pressure on the line and wonder if I am going to experience a problem over time.  Has anyone else had issues where the line connections had issues - now, my lines are just clamped with "c-clamps" instead of Russell type AN fittings
