3.73 or 4.10 Gears?

Maverickaf17 -> 3.73 or 4.10 Gears? (5/7/2008 7:42:26 PM)

So, you can look in my sig for my mods. But I'm planning on getting gears, so which one should I get. What are the pros and cons?

I heard 3.73 gears are just as good as 4.10, except they eat up less gas. And that 4.10 gears are useless for a V6 and 3.73's are just fine.

Need help, thanks.

I've been wondering the same thing.

Other people don't have my mods, kthx.

I'm a daily driver too, 3/5 city, 2/5 highway.

I've been leaning towards 3.73's for a long while, but I just want to know how much more gas the 4.10's will be using.

I have 3.73s + t-lok. My mileage is barely affected, but I noticed a massive increased acceleration at any speed. Love them!! 4.10s are simplly going to have even harder launches, but the mileage is going to be decreased (particularly highway) since your RPMs will be near 3k while cruising. For a DD, 3.73s are perfect, and if you're going F/I, you should choose 3.73s too.

depends on what you want out of your car. there are no cons to either ratio as long as it fits your needs. i am completely satisfied with my 3.73's. they are perfect for my driving style. first figure out what style of driver you are then choose your gears.

4.10s. No regrets.  [8D]

Anybody know what gears come stock in a manual sixxer?

3.31

X-charger = 3.73s or 3.45s or hunt around for a used 8.8 with 3.55s

unless you plan on doing heavily ported heads and an agressive cam

I am happy w/ 3:73's. Virtually no whine...which was a big issue for me as this is my daily driver.

We had a 73 Camaro with 4:10's and it whined like crazy...I couldn't stand it.  So I never even considered the 4:10's for myself.  It was probably just that car...but I didn't want to take the chance.

4.10s might not be the greatest idea with the insane gas prices.

i was getting 26/27 mpg before my 3.73's. i got 24mpg this weekend on the highway. i would expect 4.10's to get me 23mpg at best. more gas is burned but gears sure are fun! i wouldnt go back to stock [;)].

mustangman02232 -> RE: 3.73 or 4.10 Gears? (5/19/2008 9:20:55 AM)

you guys are missing the fact that he has an X-charger listed in his sig, the roots/twinscrews make power right off idle, you dont want short gears, if you could find a used GT rear with 3.55s it would probably be ideal

Sancho805 -> RE: 3.73 or 4.10 Gears? (5/19/2008 9:25:05 AM)

ur right. i didnt notice the x in his sig. no higher than 3.73 then.
