Part of me doesn't want to race because I love the GT500 so much.  It's like beating up your little brother.
It's the owner that's running his mouth that makes me want to blow his doors off.  He's the same way with his business.  Yapping all the time about how my company should do this or that and all the while we make 10 times what his does.  He's just a blowhard.  Wanting to race a car that costs $30,000 more, has more hp and weighs 800+ pounds less is as dumb as it gets.  Plus I am not stock.  I have a good 30 rwhp over a stock Z06 - not a ton, but even more to add to the raping.

In a perfect world, I'd also own a GT500 that I've modded and I'd use that to smoke him with.

Seriously..

I am still a Ford fanboi at heart - what can I say?

My stock GT500 feels almost as fast as my 07 6 Speed manual Vette. They are in two completely different classes. Both sweet rides with no real similarities.I would have a ZO6 also but the bankroll is only so big.Check out what you can do to a GT500 on Evolution's website for little money.Stock,ZO6 first,C6 LS3 second and last but not least,GT 500 with some easy potential.Don't hurt his feelings too bad unless he talks way too much ****,Then give it to him hard!

^^^^^ dude thats a heavy modified GT-500 what else do u expect ? cheap mods? they did not disclose them but i guaranteed u they arent, that cars must be gutted and it must have all the safety requierements to be able to run at the track at 140+ mph

When Evo Performance did that, their GT500 was essentially a full bolt-on car.  It had a drag suspension, good tires, some moderate weight reduction, exhaust, and a really small pulley with matching dyno tuning.

They were still on the stock motor, but I can't remember if they had switched out the blower yet at that point.

It was fairly impressive for what was done, and would have cost a consumer ~10k-15k in modification IIRC, which isn't really all that bad for a 9-second, 800rwhp car.

Looks like it had full exhaust, tune, pulley and a 75 shot.  I would think it has some suspension mods to go with those slicks.

On a side note will the GT500's 5.4L internals generally hold more power than the Z06?

The internals and Trans are good for at least 1K HP, if not more...

I think if a car that weighs 600+ lbs, costs about 10-15K less, and can run 2 seconds faster with mods equal to the cost of the Z06 is awesome.

Just a pulley swap, tune, intake and tires, low 11's trapping 124+. With full weight I might add.

Now, about 1K in suspension mods, 10's, here we come....

Love the GT500 and I'd love to own and mod one.  But this guy's is bone stock right down to the tires.  I am not debating what can be done to the car.  I could put a turbo set up on my Z06 and put 1000 hp to the wheels.  That's not the point.  In stock form, the GT500 is no competition for a stock C6 Z06, nor was it ever intended to be.

Obviously.  Then again, the car would technically still be stock, if he shaved off  400-500 lbs.  That would make things a bit more interesting.  Seeing as the fastest ran a 12.2 @ 118 bone stock, full weight.

Now each of those 100 lbs, is about a tenth, so much 11's bone stock, would be good.  Then he should trap at least 120, if he can drive.

I am actually thinking about buying one, if I can sell mine.  Otherwise, I'm building the engine, and going turbo.

Have fun Ed!

Your car does not have forged internals like the GT500.  I'm not sure if it can handle that much power.

So you throw in forged pistons - that's not the point! If an S197 Mustang owner posted a thread that a guy in new stock Civic Si was talking crap how he would beat him and then there were a bunch of replies with people talking about what a turbo'd Civic will run, blah, blah, blah, how do yo think that would go over?  Thank you.

Calm down I think that we already established 2482384 times that a stock Z06 will walk all over a stock GT500.  This guy either
A) Doesn't know crap about his car vs a corvette and is a tool

B) Knows you will wipe the floor with him but wants to talk crap to get you stirred up anyway.

C) (least likely) Has some mods up his sleeve he isn't mentioning.  Keep in mind the GT500 that ran 9's with slicks, tune, pulley, full exhaust, and 75 shot. (so they claim)

The guy is just a tool - and he talked the crap to my brother.  He knew better than to start with me.

I know for a fact that the car is bone stock.  Plus he's the kind of guy that would put an air filter in and brag about how his car now has 100 extra horsepower.  Like I said before, his last car was a C5.  I just don't think he has a clue about the new Z06.

I just sent him this email.  If this don't get him to put up or shut up, I don't know what will

quote:

Hey Mike,

Why did you have to get Gene all worked up about your GT500 vs. his Z06? :) I'm the guy to talk to!  Let me give you some insight.  You used to own a C5.  You know the new base C6 is now 430 bhp, right?  This isn't your old Corvette. Plus with the C6 Z06 you get:

All aluminum frame (weight savings)
Carbon fiber front fenders (weight savings)
Magnesium engine cradle (weight savings)
Magnesium roof (weight savings)
Carbon fiber wrapped Balsa wood floorboard (weight savings)
505 HP 427 Cubic Inch Motor
3" Exhaust with 4" tips and dual mode mufflers activated by RPM.
Wider front and rear fenders
Wider opening front fascia
14" 6 piston front and 13" 4 piston rear brakes. Cross drilled.
Front and rear brakes air cooled. Rear fender has integrated air scoops.
Front air splitter
Front fender air diffusers
Rear air diffuser
Front cold air scoop
18x9.5 front wheels
19x12 rear wheels
Engine moved back further to help achieve 50/50 balance.
Battery mounted in hatch
8qt dry sump oil system
Oil, transmission, differential, and power steering coolers
Taller rear spoiler

Now throw in the fact that our Z's have a tune and an intake, which add ~30 rwhp.  The car is 3,150 pounds.  Do the math.  The showroom stock record in the quarter is 10.981 seconds at 128.9 mph. A cripple could run a high 11 in this car.

I love your Ford GT500. In fact, I almost bought one.  But it's not going to hang with a Z06. Your car weighs 4,000 pounds.  It's shaped like a brick compared to the Z06.  The Z is going to leave you like you were tied to a stump.  Those are the facts. The best time I could find for a stock GT500 is 12.257 at 117 mph.

But forget about paper racing.  I will be more than happy to line them up out on Route 120.  My county cop buddy, Lieutenant Dave will make sure it's cool.  We can go from a full stop or a roll - makes no difference to me.  I'll tell you right now that you are going to be staring at the ass end of my yellow Z06 while I put a bus length on you.  It'll be fun.  Just let me know when.  I am also up for a trip to Englishtown where we can run "legally".  Just throwing it out there.  Take care - come by with the car someday.  You said I could drive it, remember?

Can someone please send me a link where evolution inc. made a 660+ rwhp on a gt-500 with a pulley, tune, and 75 shot that ran 9. Im just not buying that!!!! Again not the video where it runs 9 but rather the mods done to it.
