Low oil pressure

What's the reason for it? My oil gauge hangs out near the bottom. I checked the oil and it's at a decent level.

LOL, wow quite a bit of info you gave us there...  how about weight of oil/what type of oil, how many miles, are you using the stock gauge, etc?

I'm assuming stock gauge. I used to have a stock 91 and the gauge always read 1-2 lines above the bottom. I never had a problem with the car, i used to run the sh!t out of it at the track. If your not noticing anything it could very well be the stock gauge or sender.

I don't know what type or weight of the oil that's in it now, I didn't do the last oil change
The car had about 140k
Stock guage

Should I just change the oil and see if there's a change?

Try a new sending unit first. If it stays the same, temporarily hook up a mechanical gauge to see actual pressure.  Mine has about 24# @ idle hot and about 42@ 2000rpm with 10w40 @ 160K

when oil pressure issues are indicated by gauge first thing to do is verify accuracy with mech gauge[:D]

definatley, b4 u buy uneeded crap, hook up a mechanical guage where the sending unit is and verify pressure, thats where u should start, espescially with a stock guage, if it's ok, more than likely a sending unit is needed,

all things said, first thing i would do is change the oil so you know what weight is in there. i've always stood by 10w40 for most pushrod motors and it has done me fine. also, switching to another brand of oil filter may help - some brands will hamper your oil pressure. i recommend a motorcraft filter. they are really cheap and if you saw the guts you'd see they are MUCH better than the normal fram filters most people slap on their cars

The stock gauge is just a dummy light with a moving arm attached... If you're worried about it, as stated previously, check it with a mechanical gauge. Personally, if the gauge goes up at all, I don't worry.
