Default Rumbling over, and Tachometer

Two problems:

1.) After driving it sometimes seems as though after I turn it off, its proceeds to create a rumbling sound for between 2-5 seconds. Its not a deep sound so much but a high treble sound with almost not a deep base but a crank sound. I was thinking timing?

2.) Starting yesterday got in the car and the tac. is dry. No movement, speedo. works, fuel, etc all working, except the tac. Going with fuse?

On the first problem does the engine shake when it makes the sound?

My 67 had that problem. We changed the idle and it helped some. It has to do with the rpm the car is at when it is at a stop. My carb was broken so the throttle would stick. I replaced the carb and it hasn't done it yet. Timing was also changed.

So I would say it is the timing and the idle.
