Time to crank up the boost!!

A1SALEEN -> Time to crank up the boost!! (5/7/2008 5:40:32 PM)

I think it's time to crank up the boost.....  i'm going to push for the high 400hp range

stock block? what else are you changing?

If you're on the stock block, I would not recommend it. 20-40 extra rwhp's isn't really worth a new engine/unwanted engine build...

unless he wants a new engine...[:D]

Yep... it's a stock block.... and  I am thinking about a short block.... but i have reached 10 psi maybe 5 or 6 times since the procharger install.... so i'm thinking the stock block may hold up for a while....  Your thoughts?

I thoughts I read an article in MM&FF where they compared the procharger vs. kenne bell.  They guy with the procharger was making 501rwhp on the stock block if I remember correctly.  Not that I'm recommend doing that or anything.  I would go with a short block just to be safe.

Anything over 12 PSI is asking to blow the block. I've hit 10/11/12 PSI plenty of times with no problems at 458 RWHP. If you are getting your engine built, I say see how far it will go before blowing [:D]

Keep in mind that prochargers typically run a lot less torque than twin-screws.

I only made reference to the procharger because that's what A1 has.  The guy in the article with the kenne bell was pushing 504rwhp(I think) on the stock block as well.

You are correct... the procharger doesn't make the torque that a twin screw does.... im thinking that by changing the pulley i will gain some low end torque.... 05 is right more and more people are getting around the 500 hp range ......  without any issues.... i think mostly it has to do with the tune....
