I would like to thank everyone who participated in this poll and for Matt in keeping this thread open. The numbers really surprised me. I guess we truly are not the run of the mill Mustang owners, but Mustang Enthusiasts.

Why were you not suprised by the numbers?  Yes this was a V6 only pole, but you saw the numbers from the other threads and it was never close?

I am glad to be able to keep the thread open actually and not be forced to close it

Actually, I never looked at the results of the polls that were in the General forum. I just kinda thought the V6 results would more closely match the actual sales ratio of manual to auto. I'm not sure what that ratio is, but from what I've read far more autos are made than manuals.

The majority of People who buy Automatic V6 Mustangs are not usually enthusiasts ... therefore not very likely to be joining any Mustang message boards or websites. On the other hand .... I would think everyone who buys a Standard Shift V6 Mustang ... bought it because they purposely wanted something more sporty than a typical daily driver. That is why the number manual owners dominate automatic owners in this thread even though in the real world 90% of v6 mustangs are automatics.

that makes sense. as for the auto owners on this forum, mustang enthusiasm should not be in question. Practicality for our own situations is our reasoning.

I'm not questioning anyone on this boards enthusiasm ... if they didn't have it they wouldn't be here. Just attempting to make sense of the higher standard shift numbers since it's much different outside the forums.

I agree with dmhines, in the real world the number of automatic V6s will out number the manuals. Think about how many Mustang V6s there are in the Rental Car business, most being autos. Plus the (hate to say it)number of secretaries who bought an auto Mustang just because of the looks.
It's all fine by me because it just makes mine more rare.

you all seem to have forgot the married guy's biggest reason for ending up with an auto...(yes this is my reason) The wife can't drive a stick and would only let him get an auto

Why couldn't she learn how to drive a stick?
My friend always drove automatics until her brother was killed in a construction accident and left her with his car. Problem was it had manual transmission in it. She loved the car, but she didn't know how to drive it. I taught her how and to this day, she only drives cars with sticks.

I taught my wife how to drive a standard when we first got married!  Now she brags that she can shift better than I can!  My pride can handle it as long as I have a manual mustang to practice on!
