I guess I miss driving a stick, as I always find myself with my hand resting on the shifter in my automatic, ready to "shift".  Stick is a lot more fun on a Sunday drive, or zipping around highway traffic.  But I vote automatic for everyday / commuter driving.  If it were my 2nd car, it'd be a stick.  It's now my only car, so, automatic...

good point. if it weren't for my truck being a manual, i might have wanted a manual stang. when i drive my truck through l.a. traffic, it reminds me why i love my auto "high performance" stang...

I agree and think everyone needs to learn how to drive a stick. You never know when and if a situation might occur and you are left with no choice.

I think most folks are afraid they'll ruin someone else's tranny / clutch, when learning to drive stick...
A friend of mine was mildly ripped off by a local car dealer.  A few months later I bought a car with a stick (1972 Beetle) but didn't know how to drive stick.
We went back to that same dealership and test drove a little MG - he took it a few blocks away and I got in the driver's seat and he taught me in about 20 minutes, the basics at least.  Takes a bit longer to get the nuances, and every one is a little different (for example, it took me over a week to figure how to get the Beetle in reverse - my father finally revealed the "trick" to me), but once you've got the hang of it, it can be a lot of fun.
I still recall that first-time panic of trying to stay in place idling in traffic while pointed uphill, trying not to roll backwards nor hit the car in front of me!

I have a manual too but I am kinda disapointed in the tranny. It doesn't shift very good! My old 79 F150 with granny gear shifted better between 1st & 2nd! Plus the racket it makes in 4th gear if you are not getting on it makes me want to take it back!  Don't get me wrong I love the car but as I started out the tranny really dis-apoints me.

So far I have owned three cars in my life and all three of them have been manuals. The first car I owned was not by choice though! I can remember back to my first car and how much trouble I had learning how to drive a stick shift. At first it was so frustrating that I thought I would never drive a manual again. Finally I got the hang of it and I have never looked back since! Now I am the proud owner of Mustang V6 manual transmission and this time by choice.

I have a manual not that I had a choice since my mom gave it to me so she could trade in my explorer and get herself a vert stang.  But if I would have had to choose I would go with a manual just more fun to me and like someone already said when i drive an auto now I keep my hand on the shifter and want to change gears.

I learned on a stick-shift (in mexico, actually haha) and so it was very important for me to get my mustang in stick shift. I love it and never see myself wanting to switch. I love the control and just the overall kinetic feeling you get from a manual car.

Mine is an 07 as well but it is really easy to shift. When I took in to Ford for inspection, the porter who drove my car back around front said it was very easy to shift. He said most are hard but mine was smooth.

Maybe you should take it back and have your dealer take a look at it. It should still be under warranty.

i got a stick and i love it to death!!and without it i couldnt drift

and i think when the auto guys get a tune and really zone in on the shift point and firmness
they are just as fast as the manuals if not faster, pretty much none to minimal driver error

just depends on how good of a driver is in the manual
