Anywhere from 11.5 to 13.5.

wow a 11.5 to a 13.5. Thanx for your well thought out and intelligent answer. you have no idea how much you have helped.

Well, depending on how well you launch, how good your RT, and 1000 other variables, 11.5 is probably your best likely time, and 13.5 is if you stall when dumping the clutch ;)

The Polkster isVERYwell versed in 1/4, and our go-to guy around here. So if you ask a general question, you will get The Generals answer :)

Jazzer welcomes you to the Saleen / Roush and Boss section :)

"The Polkster isVERYwell versed in 1/4" ......very true!!!

With the power you are saying, 11's is no problem.......if car the car is set up for it. The S197 get big time wheel hop on the stock suspension! Our car has gone 12.3 @ 116.8 on small Nitto's and stock suspension. This is walking it out of the hole from 2500....trying to keep the axle hop to a minimum. We have now put upper and lower arms on and (if I put the 12oz down) will be putting on the line lock and get back to the track.

By the way, our car is Full Saleen.......suspension, 20" wheels (front), etc. Power .......who knows? I change /tweak the tune more then my undies :D

I ment no disrespect to PolkThug (http://www.mustangforums.com/showProfile.asp?memid=17195).allthough his responce was in no way helpful. What he probably should have said was, if you can driveyou should be able to hit mid to high 11's. Anyway i was just bored and im going to the track on friday night with weather permiting so i figure i would see what you all had to say.

Kind of like when I said "from 11.5"

*gazes into crystal ball* Although I'm not really seeing you break into the 11's at all. I'll give you a 12.65 at best.

I'll stick by my 'from 11.5 to 13.5' initial estimate and I want vids of all your runs so I will be proven right. :D

Have fun and practice, practice, practice!

Now your just being a jerk. Dude you dont know me or how i drive. with 450rwhp and 450 torque if i dont run at least a 12.1 with slicks i shouldnt be driving this car. 11.5 to 13.5 is like telling your wife youll be home for dinner between 4 and 8 and showing up a 7 pist off because you diner is cold . if you dont want to help and all you want to be is a dumb ass then keep your smart ass commitsto yourself.

Good luck on your quest for total strangers to guess how fast your car is.

I sure hope you are not running stock internals with that set-up! [sm=smiley21.gif]I heard of aguy throwing a pinky toe just the other day. Of course, he was also running Odor Eaters!

Steve, you are new to this sectin, and we are just giving you a hard time. We are all good pepes here, just your question was a bit vague, and you got the typical Polkmeister response. Seems to me the lowest numbers I have seen for a DD is low 11's. This was a guy that had been down the track many, many, many times and had wayyyyyyyy to many mods to list here.

Give her a run, and let us know how you do :)

Jazzer keepin' the peace [sm=Awwww.gif]

I hope you run a low 12(11's would be fantastic!). Next time post your experience with the car etc and you will get a better response. Otherwise, Polks answer is dead on.

Yea don't hate on Polk because that truly is a good answer knowing what we know. He was not in anyway trying to be a jerk. There area lot of factors that come into play with drag racing. Not just how much rwhp, torque, and what kind of tires you use.

PolkThug
05-08-2008, 10:18 PM
Also, even if you do everything right, lack of track prep can take the wind right out your sails.

sowaxeman
05-09-2008, 08:58 AM
Relax Steve, he's not being a jerk. You asked a one sentencequestion that left out SEVERAL variables, so you got the one sentenceanswer based on the lack of variables. Could he have provided a full paragraph answer with several options in the first place, maybe.....but regardless you're post was simply the start of a growing conversation that in no way needs to take a argumentative turn.

Good luck with your runs, and please let us know your results along with all the other variables (location, weather, tranny, gears, tires, what S/C & tune, track prep/condition, etc......)

Have fun and keep it pointed straight ahead :)

sorry got rained out fri night. im planning to go in two more weeks. i will post my time slip or a vid of my 11.90 run. no matter if my 11.90 turns into a 13.5. because im honest.
seeing how this thread is getting so much attention do any of you all have a mgw shifter? And how do you like it? Is the third gearlock out really gone? i thinl im going to order me one later this week.

I heard MGW's are a no-no for racing. Maybe someone can verify?

i dont have a saleen, just the supercharger on a stock gt. i had 420rwhp from brenspeed my 2 best runs where 12.048 and a 12.05 both at 113 or 114mph . i guess with you susp. work you will hit around 11.8 or 11.9 good luck

I am finding out these cars need good suspension and tire! It has been a long time since I have been doing the 1320. The last car for me was an 8 second door slammer.....totally different animal.

Do not waste money on Nittos!!! This has been said by many people and after our testing it is true! If the track prep is great, they are awesome, if not ..........crap! They only work in a small window.

You just need to take it out and test.

I ran an 11.88 @117 with 275 drag radials. My car was at 403rwhp/365rwtq at the time.

I'm at 424rwhp and 392rwtq now on the stock Saleen 4" pulley, but haven't a clean run yet (clutch failure).

Are you still running the stock clutch? i put in a spec2. ive heard allot of bad things about the spec clutches but im very happy. no chatter at all and no more sliping.

PolkThug

Spec Stage3+. There was chatter at first, but it gradually went away 500 miles of shifting below 3k rpms.

ive used mgw in a couple of my other cars and loved it. ive never had an issue racing with them. i just ordered a mgw today they told me there was a week hold before shipping. let me know how you like yours and if the third gear lock is really gone.

MGW is the most highly recommended shifter for the S197's. If I buy another shifter it will be MGW.
