FRPP kit comes with self-tapping bolts, so no, you don't need to tap anything as an extra step.

fyi, for those of us that just have to perform the tapping ritual. Don't bother buying the tap wrench cause there's no room in the area where you have to work to use the big t-wrench you'll need for the 8 X 1.25 tap. Use a 1/4 rachet drive with adapter for the tap and you're good to go. Jack

No tap is needed! I took one of the self tapping bolts from the passenger side hanger and used it to tap the holes on the drivers side. Simple and easy. I did need to buy 2 metric bolts(size is in instructions)as the kit came only with 2 bolts and you need 4.

Your FRPP kit came with two muffler brackets and only two bolts?

Yea, they only send two - but for some reason, when I took off my original 6 muffler last year and put on a gt takeoff, I ended up with two extra bolts, don't remember where they came from (lol), but I used em with the new hangers. And no, you don't need a tap - there are already nuts welded to the frame, the threads just might have some frame coating crud in them that is no problem

Hmmmm... No?

I dunno buddy, maybe your kit had something wrong with it, but my FRPP X-pipe duals came with two muffler brackets and 4 self-tapping bolts.

And if you don't use self-tapping bolts, yes, you will (or should, rather) tap the holes in the frame.  You could use a normal bolt and just force it through, but it's fairly easy to mess up the threads you're cutting, and then you have a problem.  You'll need to drill bigger holes in the frame to get rid of the nasty threads you cut, find bigger bolts, and still end up tapping the new holes (unless you roll the dice and try forcing the bolts through again.)

In short:
- FRPP X-pipe duals come with two brackets and 4 self-tapping bolts (all you'll need to do the job)
- If you don't use self-tapping bolts, you should tap the holes in the frame or risk a big headache.

My holes were already tapped, went in real easy. and the kit came with everything, you dont need anything outside of what comes in the kit.

My kit only came with 2 bolts.  The stock v6 muffler has three hangers.  On the duals kit you only need two on that side.  I reused the bolts from the unused hanger.  I tapped the holes, mine weren't, and the instructions called for it.  Others have just tapped the holes with the bolts and it worked.

I wish my 07 had the bolt holes already tapped for the driver's side muffler brackets, but no such luck on my car. When I install my Stainless Works dual system I'll have to tap the holes for the bolts. Below is a photo of what I'll be using. Eash purchases from Sears and Lowes or Home Depot. Forget using the big Tap Wrench, no space. I'll be using the tap with a 1/4 & 3/8 rachet drive adapter to put the 10 mil box wrench on to turn the tap. It'll take a few minutes to do each hole, but I'm in no hurry. The bottle of tap fluid will help to prevent galling. I'm using M8 stainless bolts for my install. I bought 4 new Pypes 304 grade Stainless muffler hangers to use on the new exhaust system install. Not pictured, I'll coat the bolts with some Permatex anit-sieze paste. My dual exhaust system is finally due here at the house next Wednesday the 14th. After the exhaust system finally gets on, wheels and tires are next. I'll be installing Maximum Motorsports Maxxim alloy wheels, 18 X 8.5, on all four corners with BFG gForce KDW2 255/45/ZR18 tires. I post up when everything's on. Jack
