Default Covering Center Console with fiberglass

My center console is torn up really bad. Its previous owner is a douche. Anyway, what materials do i need just to cover. I dont really want to make any design changes. Doi need to wrap or can i just lay the fiberglass over the original material. I mainly just need to know about materials and where i can get them locally if possible. Lowes or something like that you know...

Go junkyard hunting and/or post a request for a console on your local craig's list. Would probably be easier than attempting to adhere fiberglass to plastic.

Well i plan on fab'in' my dash soo the fact thats its damaged and my car still funtions without it makes it a good thing to do first. If that would be difficult I will just wrap it first. I would still like some direction as far as where to obtain supplies however.

Maybe i dont even need to do fiberglass. I just want to be able to primer and paint a smooth surface. Should I just start sanding the plastic and make it smooth? Theres got to be an easier way to do that, like some sort of filler or something that would be more applicable. Any ideas?

I dont understand... can you clarify what youre attempting here? Are you trying to smooth your center console? Repair holes/tears?

I'm trying to do two things. 1. Repair the cracks and other minor damage to the console. 2. Give the console a more modern look, ie; the appearane of fiberglass, very smooth, and painted.

hrm... sanding seems like more work than is worth it, and probably wouldnt turn out how you want to. That is a big task, considering every plastic panel in your car has that rough texture. You could either :

Make a fiberglass mold and create a new one entirely(I dont think the glass will stick to the plastic too well..)
or
Try body filler..?

Like bondo right? I was thinking about that and my dad said it might not adhere to well, but neither one of us really know one way or the other. I think that would probably work ok, then just some sanding, and a few coats of primer, paint, and presto? Would it adhere better if i wrapped the console with fleece first or is that not nessacary ya think.

Could you post a pic of your console? You need some sort of filler that will remain flexible. Stuff like bondo will probably crack after a few months

This is not my car but it is a great overhead view of what mine looks like. Same color scheme too. The texture is rather rough and reminds me of a popcorn ceiling. Ok, not that rough but i dont like it. Would cat hair or something like that help?
