I tinted mine out with the vht nightshades and clear coat. They are still just as bright as stock. Just depends on how many coats you do if you want them BLACK then you wont see sh!t but if you want just smoked it should be fine. Same with the tint overlays just adjust the %.

If they aren't removable, you're gonna run int some problems with the PoPo at night.Might wanna just consider the GTS ones.

Try to lower the caps on IMG, and your signature should show on your posts. Like this, oh by the way nice cars.

Why would he run into problems at night? I actually have my tails painted/tinted. they still light up red when the lights are on,

I bought that exact kit for my taillights. It's a bit of a pain, but it came out good, I would recommend it. Me personally, I'm going to have mine painted soon.

I used to have mine smoked. We ended up doing something different to it, but I want to change it back to the tint look. Tested it during the day and at night, the lights are still visible thru the tint.

What does it usually cost to have that done?

You can either buy a plastic piece that covers the whole light, or you can get a can of spray tint, or you can just use a roll of window tint (which is what I did). The plastic cover piece can come off and on, the spray is permanent, and the window tint is also removable. I have heard that the window tint isn't thick enough to handle the heat from the lights, but they worked well for as long as I had them on. It was pretty easy to put them on and looked good. I know a roll of tint costs about $15-20 for a whole roll. Not sure about the spray or the covers.

I've considered doing this because my car is black and I love the look of total black on the Mustang.

Because u have to have a rear-facing red reflector on each tail light...leageally, and if they are darkened in any way, if he gets rear eneded, he can be up the civil sh*t creek without a paddle.

On my way back from Ensenada one Sunday night I was zooming along when I saw a very faint red light far ahead. I am an attentive, careful (read: fearful)driver, so I slowed way down, just in time to avoid an accident.

An accident had already happened: the light I saw was the single tail light of a dump truck, partially obscured by mud. A VW Karmann Ghia had come along, apparently the driver was not warned by the dim light, and struck the truck hard enough to move its rear axle about three feet forward.

A VW Karmann Ghia doesn't have much in the way of crush space up front. The two front-seat occupants were beyond help. The back seat passengers were seriously injured: the girl was unconscious and bleeding from her ears. Her boyfriend was going into shock,; the left half of his face seemed relatively normal, but was an inch or so farther back than the other side.

The truck driver was not around. When some vacationing EMT people arrived and took over, I left, too. In Mexico authorities arrest and detain witnesses as well as principals.

Point being: not everyone is an attentive, careful, fearful driver. You make it easy to hit you, they will. Why risk that for a little style? Much as I like the blacked-out look, it's just not worth it to me.
