I'm interested in putting a set of '07 Bullet style wheels on my '66 I know that I may need spacers up front to keep the tires from rubbing the inner wheel well.  Also in back to even them up with the front.  Has any one done or seen this, and can you direct me to pics of how it looks.  I also need to know spacer size. I saw a guy did this to a 65 fastback in Mustang Monthly several months back.  He cut, sectioned and re-welded the wheels to accommodate for the backspacing issues.  I don't have the skill or money to do that.  I'm going to get wheels and tires with less than 1000 miles for $500.00.  I don't want to waste my time trying them out if it looks like crap.

$500 for the wheels with used tires
$200 for the 1.25 inch adapters to make them fit properly
$800 for new decent/average tires since the ones on the wheels will be too tall
$100 mounting/balancing
_______
$1600 approx total cost

Dodgestang,

I bought a set of 1 in spacers from Dallas Mustang for the back.  I heard that I would need a two inch spacer for the front, but will the 1.25 inch be enough for the front?  Would you go with the 1.25 or 2 for the front?

P.S.  your wheelguide is great, thanks for doing it and I look forward to version 2.0. (I'd be happy to contribute some picts of my setup as soon as I figure it out!)

Beats me ;)
I don't know what wheels you have.  Why on earth you would want to install 8 inch rims in different tracks on the car is beyond me personally.  Measure the backspacing on the rims you have and it is very easy to figure out what size spacer you need.

Measured backspacing minus 4.75 on an 17x8 inch wheel will tell you adapter thickness needed (front and back)
Measured backspacing minus 4.25 on an 17x7 inch wheel will tell you adapter thickness needed (front and back)
Measured backspacing minus 4.5 on an 16x8 inch wheel will tell you adapter thickness needed (front and back)

Some additional research on my parts makes it appear that the 2007 wheels have a 44mm offset which is just shy of 6.25 inch backspacing....so you might actually need a 1.5 inch adapter to make that year wheel work!  Please always measure the backspacing (or confirm through independant research like asking the seller to measure the backspacing on any wheels you plan on buying prior to pulling the trigger on the wheels or the adapter)
