I am new to the forum but recently acquired a 66 Fastback. The car never came with its body plate however it did come with its original Buck plate. The buck plate has been great and helping me find a fair bit of info on the car but the only thing it doesn't tell me is the the transmission, axle ratio and distric code
My understanding is that Marti reports only go as far back as 67 and Ford US wont send me a Ford CAC Report (vin report) as i dont have a US postal address.
Do any of you have any other paths i should look down to try and find the history of my Mustang?

pay for Ford to send the CAC to someone in the states and then for them to mail it to you?

Is the door tag gone? Ford destroyed all therecords on cars built prior to 1967. If the interior is still original you might get lucky and find the build sheet. Could either be under or behind the rear seat, behind the dash near the heater box or in the headliner.

can you clarify that?
I am not aware of a "body plate" only a door tag and a vin number on top of the inner fender. Where did you find the "buck plate"?
the build sheet could also be under the carpet or under dash behind the instruments (taped to the wires). I've never heard of one being under the headliner but that wouldnt surprise me either.

The buck tag normally mounts on the driver side fender apron and held on by a screw. The buck tag has some information to help decipher what was on the car. It is a piece of stamped metal about 3"x4".

my buck plate is on my right ( passenger side fender) it is on with one rivet and has a corigated edge. it can be confused with the vin tag, but it is definatly different.
it has the vin which ='s the place, date, body type, and unit #

a build sheet should tell you the whole story if you can find it and if you can read it. Lotsa guys have found theirs but usually in less than perfect condition.

(behind) rear seat ?, or behind instruments ?.
Everything is original so hate to mess it up, but at sametime really want to find those id's.
