Hey all I know is an s197 on horsepower tv gained close to 8 hp from changing its oil, trans fluid, and gear lube to royal purple. That's a mod in my book.

When I get my ZR1 Seriously, you have two awsome cars.

ORIGINAL: USMCrebel oil isnt a mod is it nice race's was the fox stock? Not really. Stock oil is motorcraft 5w20. Considering the difference I noticed, and it being similar in intensity to my K&N filter, it was worth listing as a "Mod" since it is a deviation from stock, it DID cost me decent money, and it made for a noticeable difference. The fluids in the gearbox and engine are probably responsible for almost as much power as the K&N filter. I wouldn't know how much that is, but it's definitely better than stock. Your but dyno must be sensative as hell (Sensative but, He He He ) The K & N might have gave you 1WHP and the oil isn't going to increase power to the wheels at all. Most people cant tell the difference in a 13 flat pass and a 13.5 pass til they see the slips. And it takes ruffly 15 horsepower to cut off a 1/0th at the track so I seriousaly doubt you can fell any difference from changing brands of oil.. I don't think oil "increases" the HP to wheels as much as cuts down on drivetrain loss aka more of lost HP gained back at wheels. Subtle difference. Oil Definately not a "Mod" in my book

ORIGINAL: ColinGT Wow this thread is just WOW I hope i dont meet a mustang owner who tells me his mods are royal purple. No offense, And no you wouldnt of pulled that much on a s2000 from a roll, they are pretty dead even stock for stock i would say, gts have the edge tho. Okay, so you mean to tell me that being 350lbs heavy and missing a shift for almost two seconds, and still having half a car on him, I couldn't have done better at one man a piece with perfect shifts? Optimumly my car would be a car ahead. Now that that's out of the way... With 100$ in RP fluids of various sorts in my car, I'm already doing quite well for performance improvement per dollar. Even if it's half the numbers that most people are saying RP throughout the drivetrain gives, then I'm already above most mods when you take into consideration installs that half the people end up paying. I will always list my choice in fluid because it makes a DIFFERENCE. We won't call it a mod, but we will call it a determining FACTOR in my car's ability to perform better than another car with similar power. The topic of what makes a mod a mod and what doesn't is silly, if I did it to my car and it's faster, I modified it, even if it's a disposable item like oil or spark plugs.

I change my oil when the light turns on, I get between 7 and 10 thousand miles... considering I do that in ~3 months time I guess it works out.
