On horsepower TV a few years back they dynod a camaro before and after a royal purple oil change and it picked up I believe right around 7rwhp. I dont know if Id mention it as a modification personally but it does pick up a bit more power.
I'm calling bullsh*t on that also! Do ya think royal purple might be a sponsor? No way in hell are you going to see that at the wheels. Maybe at the crank, not the wheels.

long tube/ cat back/ tune would net me ~30rwhp and 50rwtq.......thats a pretty nice gain.for just over $1300.
but yeah oil change is a regular maintanance
I've never seen numbers that suggested a GT could pick up that much. I wish I had a 4v. =(

What, did you think all those parts you buy at the store are rated at the wheels?

Where does a dyno measure power? At the wheels right. UNLESS someone specificlly says it's measured on an engine dyno it means there measuring at the wheels.Get it?

Hey, just saying. 50$ for 7HP is a good deal... and there are few parts you can buy for a GT that can do that, granted the oil probably doesn't yield even half that on a GT, but I still say it gives us some go and given the cost effectiveness/efficiency over long tubes and cat backs, it's more of a useful mod than they are.
I'm pretty much done with this thread. If your impressed with your royal purple oil changes god help you if you ever strap a supercharger or nitrous on that slow car of yours. Your likely to travel back in time your going so fast.

Keep looking around. You'll find that few parts from stores aren't rated for something. Every part will give you some pro or con to consider, gears tell you how much it'll shave off your 1/4, exhaust and intake tells you HP gains, and so on.

Noticing something isn't saying it's faster than crap. Just because you can't beat your idea into me doesn't mean I'm off on the deep end. I'm just saying, like I've always been saying, Royal Purple makes enough difference that it should be listed in there, and I'll KEEP listing it, because I noticed a difference enough to keep paying the money I pay for it.
And yeah, I'm scared to death of a supercharger, though.

sorry man, oil is not a mod, it will gain you anything, but only free up what is already there. im pretty sure i cant go to auto zome grab up some part and make any gains worth noting.

Then UD pulley's aren't mods either.

But they're totally put into a mod's section. It's still a bolt on MODIFICATION of the stock system.Let's see, your mustang has a list of specs, right? Well those specs are based on stock fills of stock used fluids. If we change the fluid, we change the stock setup, if we change the pulleys, we change the stock setup, same with a cold air setup, or heads or a longer stroke.

oil isnt a mod is it nice race's was the fox stock?
Not really. Stock oil is motorcraft 5w20. Considering the difference I noticed, and it being similar in intensity to my K&N filter, it was worth listing as a "Mod" since it is a deviation from stock, it DID cost me decent money, and it made for a noticeable difference. The fluids in the gearbox and engine are probably responsible for almost as much power as the K&N filter. I wouldn't know how much that is, but it's definitely better than stock.
Your but dyno must be sensative as hell (Sensative but, He He He) The K & N might have gave you 1WHP and the oil isn't going to increase power to the wheels at all. Most people cant tell the difference in a 13 flat pass and a 13.5 pass til they see the slips. And it takes ruffly 15 horsepower to cut off a 1/0th at the track so I seriousaly doubt you can fell any difference from changing brands of oil..
Perhaps it's not so much just in the butt dyno. I refuse to believe it didn't drastically improve fluidity. One of the things I noticed right off the bat was how much easier it started. I can't describe how it feels during every day use, but I do notice a difference. And I feel every bump in the road, so there's got to be some sensitivity there.

You guys don't know that oil gives you 15 rwhp. Stupid ^^^^
Hah, I wasn't looking for that. But you know, I wouldn't be surprised if between my gear oil and engine oil I gained about 5. There's a noticeable difference from the second startup (first sounds like I dropped spoons in there, obviously).
There was a difference, even if it's fun to pick on people about, and with the K&N filter yielding so little, they're probably even (oil and filter).
Dude bro, I was being 100% sarcastic. You maybe will see .1RWHP from oil change. Gear oil wouldn't affect your horsepower. Engine oil is lubricates, so whenever you do an oil change you notice a difference. Royal purple is just a higher grade lubricant.
Stock motorcraft will do the same thing from second startup, chugging and generally hating you. Seems most GT's I ran into did that. Royal purple cured that and several other things, but I don't wanna discuss it. Moving on. I beat two cars...
And another guy asked if the fox was stock. I wouldn't know, I guess. We didn't talk after the race. The sound was way different from a stock fox, but had stock tips, so maybe it was cut off, but I couldn't tell you. Didn't seem loud enough for cut offs. Perhaps he had H/C/I, I know that's usually first base for fox owners.
If that fox had a HCI swap he would have absoulutly raped you unless it was piloted by a blind monkey with down syndrome
